Wtf. Weren't Ducks fans just making fun of Penguins fans last season for stealing Despres from them? What gives?

Depres pre-concussion was a steal. If he could regain his form he'd still be a steal. At this point he is vulnerable to getting concussed and hasn't be able to regain his form. He isn't the player he was when we traded for him.

Now if he could become that player again is still a possibility it'll just be a shaky road.

Yeah, no idea what that comment was about. Despres was out with a concussion for most of the season and then struggled with rust and ongoing symptoms upon his apparently rushed return, as he admitted recently, but he's far from a negative.

For the last goddamn time. Simon Despres for Reid Boucher. Anaheim gets young, cheap, forward depth, and NJ gets a second pairing defenseman. We all know how much Shero loves his former Penguins.

Ducks don't want boucher.... Rather get someone like Dano

A lot of people have been speculating that Ducks have had a trade set up once Lindholm was signed. Lemieux stated he and Ducks are working on finalizing the contract ASAP. It would make sense a trade would come to fruition shortly before the contract is finalized. As for the trade itself, I'm with everyone else. Most likely Boston or Detroit. I'd love to get Tatar and a prospect, but Spooner is also a good player to center a trade around.

Honestly who the hell would want stoner?

$3.25 mil for what he brings is just awful. He should be a healthy scratch pretty much league wide and he is eating over 3 mil for the next two years

Murray needs to put a pork chop (a good pick/prospect) around Stoners neck to have any chance to move him

That's why they also have salary retention. Stoner at 1.625-2 mil for two years isn't that bad either. Problem is that isn't going to clear enough room really for what the Ducks need to sign. And I don't think there are any teams that will be willing to take two d-men whether it's Fowler or Despres and either Stoner or Bieksa.

I don't think a Fowler trade is going to be a hockey trade either. It's going to be a quality for cheap quantity deal.

Overpaid 5/6 D man why would the Devils want that. Who in the world would want Clayton Stoner any ways.

He's overpaid, but it's not a horrible contract. A team that is looking to stabilize their bottom pairing and have the cap space might be willing to do it. I think the trade is for Fowler, but Stoner will most likely be moved at some point. Stoner has been solid for the Ducks, but Bieksa can't/won't be moved and we can't have that much salary on the bottom pairing.

Detroit Red Wings- Cam Fowler

Anaheim Ducks- Tomas Tatar+Detroit's 2017 2nd round pick

Still saves Anaheim around $1.25 million, More then likely that's the best Detroit can offer and still save Anaheim some cap room.

Stoner actually makes a good deal of sense for the Canes. They need a defender to expose in the upcoming expansion Draft as Faulk is currently their only D who qualifies. If they can pick up a good pick or prospect in the deal it could make sense to make that move now rather than at the TDL.

Stoner and a 2nd round pick for Andrej Nestrasil? I have no idea how high the Canes are on him, but he would give the Ducks a cheap option that might be able to play the cycle game with Getzlaf and Perry in a complementary role. Ritchie is injured right now and even he's healthy he's far from a lock to make the top six.

If Ryan Murphy plays 35 games this season, he qualifies.

He could also get injured or finally prove that he is worth keeping. Stoner needs 20 games played to qualify. If the Canes could pick up an extra 1st or good prospect it would be worth the swap. Depends on how desperate Anaheim is to get their guys signed.

I don't see Anaheim going so far as to add a 1st.

If the Ducks add a pick like a 2018 2nd rounder on top of Stoner that could entice a team like New Jersey to look at Stoner. A team needing help on the bottom pairing might be enticed by that.

Ducks in Trade Talks?

Pierre McGuire tweeted that the Ducks are in trade talks with a team from the Eastern Conference to unload a significant contract.

Despres to the Devils ?

Name one team that has a need to stabilize their third pair AND can afford to pay him anywhere between $1.6 and $3.25 mil for two more years? Need is the key word here. Any bottom feeder team clearly has cap space and holes, but why plug it with an above market price dman who isnt very good anymore unless they are getting a big asset for helping out ANA?

Also, moving stoner at 50% isnt enough to fix Anaheims situation so they would still be cornered into making another move out of desperation. Not sure Murray wants to be on the losing end of two trades while possibly retaining salary on one of the trades for a budget conscious team just to retain guys on the roster from last year AND hand them raises

A team like NJD or other bottom half team doesnt really NEED to stabilize their bottom pair this year or next as they arent prepared to make any noise. All the contenders are either probably pretty content right now with their rosters and arent looking to do Anaheim favors before the season starts. Any other non contenders likely have much bigger holes than third pair dmen, which are a dime a dozen right now and a fraction of the cost and likely better ability than Stoner

Nah. That's just a social construct.

It'll probably be Fowler for some mediocre winger like Tatar.

Tatar is far from a mediocre winger. He would be arguably the 2nd best winger on the team. Definitely the second best offensively.

He doesn't have twitter.

In another thread someone is claiming they heard him on the radio.

It'd have to be a lot more than a 2nd. With Quincey, we have an overabundance of lower pairing guys. No interest.

That trade puts Detroit decisively over the cap. Not possible.
