Sometimes a team has your number.

Look at the Leafs vs the Senators

Can the Oilers beat the Leafs? Sure they can. They're a good team. I don't know about a 7 game series but we may find out this year

I don't find any issues with Drai's comments.

You like to see the passion and the frustration, especially since for all his gifts, McDavid is a charisma vacuum - every time the camera is in front of him he has that same terrified but also annoyed look he had the day Edmonton drafted him.

This one.

But he isn't wrong, any team can beat any team in a single game, but a series?

Everyone always goes 'in the playoffs teams tighten up!', are the Leafs somehow exempt from this?

He and Connor would get abused at every turn and eventually be shut down, win one, maybe two games in a seven game series.

I don’t think any of those choices really apply, I guess maybe teams don’t respect the leafs, but no one respects the oilers either... both teams need to earn that still. A oilers Vs leaf playoff series would be pretty cool tho

they have been very meh since their hot start and def showed a lot of cracks in their armor. I think dubas will try to fix those by the deadline.... but they def don’t seem as unbeatable as they did early in the year

The encouraging thing is even when we were losing the team was still mostly playing well. We just had outrageously bad goaltending. The health of our goalies this year has been by far our biggest issue. Obviously, this stretch coinciding with Matthews' wrist injury being aggravated did not help matters

We need to be better, we need to work harder to beat that team, tons of stuff could be said besides, yeah of course we can beat the team that has been in 1st place virtually all season and has beat us 6 out of 7 games.

It's the "of course" part that gets me. It's disrespectful TBH.

That's far from disrespectful. Every player should think like that and they should believe it, otherwise they should get the hell out of the league.

I would hope our players say the same thing about beating Boston in the playoffs.

Four straight losses to Toronto leaves the Oilers stirred, but not shaken.

Of course we can beat that team. There’s no question about it,” Draisaitl said defiantly. “It’s a good team — we’re a really good team. It’s always tight games, but there no questioning in our heads if we can beat them.”

It’s always tight games? Wasn’t that the only tight one haha

He was trying to say the Oilers can beat the Leafs.

That's it.

Sorry it hurt your feelings.

Secondly and the only thing I think you could be commenting on out of my post is that Draisaitl sulks...he’s done it on more than one interview lol
So I really don’t know why you’re responding to me as like I said earlier ...cringier topics have last on this board and we don’t know what he was trying to say only he does lol

Four losses in a row, and this was a game Edmonton had control of before letting the 'W' slip away. That always seems to make for a bigger story. Draisaitl acknowledged the Leafs as being a good team. Toronto will win the season series against the Oilers but there's one more game coming up.

Ya and maybe it’s helping battle test them a bit.... they are winning/losing a lot of close hard fought games... may pay off come playoff time

What was he supposed supposed to say? We concede all reminding games to the unstoppable Leafs?

I’m happy we won but a win in overtime means they came very close to beating us.

Why would teams not respect Toronto? Give me 1 reason?

A total nothing burger. Are the Oilers supposed to roll over and die? Nothing out of the ordinary here at all imo .

They were ahead on the scoreboard not in actual game play . Hanging on rarely works when the ice is tilted against you.

I really can't think of anything else I would want a player to say.

Not sure why people get offended or even care about what other people's opinions are about the Leafs. Who cares? If Drai came out and said we are never going to beat the Leafs it would be a story.

What do you get for winning one game vs losing 6? I don't think you'd ever hear those words coming out of a current Leaf player.
You were the guy calling me a liar because the exact literal interpretation of words matter, right? Now in this thread you're all over a player for stating a fact?

1) how is he supposed to answer that question?

2) they’ve beat us once this year so of course they can beat the Leafs.
