True fans of the team don't think goaltending is fine and dandy. The hardcore ones who want to see a cup
I agree. You can’t expect the team to dominate HDSC against other contenders consistently so you will need your goalie to best the other on occasion. To me Vejmelka is the right guy to tandem with Skinner. Skinner has good moments but can fall apart and when he’s off he can lose you a series.

Drai looking water better then McDavid this year
Do we also get how absolutelys sexy that kick to skate was on the winner? What absolutely sublime puck control. hardly anybody could bring the puck to stick like that and laser corner like Drai. Rocket Richard for a reason. Drai also kept puck in at point with a kick to stick. Should get goal and assist. lol. What a player. I'm sure almost everybody here was on him all game.

Oh Shiii-

I just realized that last game Leon Draisaitl finally passed Dany “f***ing rockstar” Heatley for most goals ever scored by a German born player.

How was this not reported on?!

Leon Draisaitl is officially the greatest German hockey player of all time, the German Gretzky, if you will — and now holds all pertinent records.

Incoming Moustache fans screaming ".931!" at you for the rest of the evening. As if the Oil didn't just dominate chances and HDCA.

Yet again, second best goalie on the night. Good thing we have a generational superstar to salt it away.
again, Oilers gave up 3 breakaways and the Ducks gave up 0 breakways

and Oilers having that many "high danger chances" and not scoring is more about the Oilers lack of finishing than anything

That's how HFOil rolls. When Skinner is playing bad people post his save percentage ad nauseam without any context. When he has a good save percentage suddenly the context matters and it always makes him look worse than the stats show to their eye.
This is story. Just keep digging until they find a stat that titles against him.

Nobody thinks Skinner is a great goalie. He’s average with a lot of swing but many around here are hell bent on asserting that he’s the worse goalie who’s ever goalied in the history of goalies.

Oilers gave up 3 breakaways, Ducks 0

not all HD chances are created equal

We had three breakaways as well?

Skinner .931 and Dostal .885

Numbers prove Ducks had the worse goalies. Only idiots think otherwise. Can’t argue with the numbers

Depends which numbers you look at. Again - Dostal faced twice as many chances, with more of them being high quality. He should have a lower save percentage.

Dostal 0.34 GSAx
Skinner -0.32 GSAx

@Tobias Kahun did you see Bouchard with the ozone slash with 2min left? Just like the 3 on 1 with 4min left, he got lucky again.

How about that cross ice slot giveaway in the 2nd? Right in the slot ffs

Bouchard sucks this year. He should have had 3 against that game easily

Ducks were shooting from anywhere and everywhere at times. Lots of nothing shots.

Bad Habits

Another 2 goal lead evaporates with sloppy team defending. Team loses momentum for the second half of this game as Oilers fail to extend their lead. Three breakaways with terrible team decisions 160 feet from their net get turned the wrong way. I'd also like to call for a moratorium on shitty soft back passes which often get turned over into odd man rushes. Goaltending also not good enough with Skinner looking like he's guessing on his positioning on shot selections (not aided by brutal team turnovers in front of him). Coach needs to breakout The Stack Line to salvage a home win against a lottery team.

Credit Ducks goaltender who withstood the barrage to enable his team to counter on Oiler team mistakes. Goaltending matters. Ducks took over the last half of this game.

I'm going to see this team tomorrow in Seattle. No more bad habits please.

Strange how the same posters think the next goalie will definitely be the one. Like Schwartz won’t completely f*** him up too.

shocking that the Ducks goalie made some high danger saves. Thought they weren't supposed to do that! "Never his fault Skinner" certainly seems to think so.

Keep defending an average goalie while shitting on 2 of the best players on the planet. I'm enjoying the disconnect.

I can't get the comments that Skinner had a strong game. Didn't make a lot of HDSC saves.

2nd goal was just a sifter from the post not deflected.

But heres something interesting. On 3 breakaways allowed Skinner gets beat 3X. Fortunately 2 of them were goalposts but he sure is getting some luck lately. I think the key point is he didn't make a stop on any of them, and aside from fictional shot count the Oilers dominated this game for vast majority.

Does anybody think the score wouldn't be something like 6-1 Oilers if Goalies were reversed in this game?

We won, so why does it matter? Getting goalied almost every night is making our club have to work so hard to get these results in an 82 game season. The cost of that isn't now, its later on.
