WINDSOR
Our known shortcomings to London on paper and play is their double dual edged sword of 2 good goalies and their D advantage. Bowler gaining new offense is not needed unless a big o player(s) are moved to obtain D. Is Joey injured to some degree not starting today? Newlove being shown as trade bait? Newlove appears more confident than Froggett. Although he was not really tested often today with high quality chances. The first 2 he should have had if you are being picky. I believe we need minimum of 2 D preferably 3. Even losing 1-2:midpack forwards scoring wise won't hurt. You only need to outscore your opponent by 1. Not double digits. Manzo and Gaymes though nice kids don't move the needle. 2 road wins without them. You have to pay to play and to improve D this year and next will cost a few big names. Even if we added just for picks, all these players would be sitting anyway.

A win is a win. Had to work for those 2 points, Always a battle up in St. Catherine's. Newlove was as good as he needed to be to pick up the win and was solid in his first start in the OHL. Congrats to Winegard, had to grind it out in this league for that first goal but your on the board kid.

8 straight wins baby. Let's get thru the next few days with all the trades and surprises, Prepare for the Knights on Friday. Will be interested to see this line up come game time up in London.

Excited for a busy trade week around the Ohl, it's one of the funnest times of the hockey season.

Go Spits!!

I almost wonder if the coaches talked to him? Kind of a "You want to take penalties? Bring someone with you or skate away" thing.
That’s what I was thinking. He’s been pretty quiet under Walter’s. He still digs in at other guys, you’ll see if you watch him live/off camera, but he’s not as much of an aggressor. More important for him to be on the ice. But, we know it’s there. It’s a good weapon if you get stuck in a playoff series

Barrie leader in the east made a big trade today with North Bay. None of the teams/players rumored with the Spits. Kettle is starting to boil

Nice comeback from a 2-0 deficit to win 4-3 in OT for their 8th straight win, especially getting the winner from Greentree on the PP,an area that they have struggled lately dropping to 9th in the last 8 games, after being 3rd best, now they are 7th,PK was 4th 8 games now it's 3rd best,3-3 today.
Nice to get 4 goals even though Ilya Protas went pointless today after registering 16 points in his last 7 games before today.
4 home wins and 4 road wins comprise the 8 game winning streak,it started 8 games ago with the dominant win over 1st place London in Windsor not in the score 3-2 but the play.
In 8 games Spits have scored 47 goals forvan average of 5.875 per and have allowed 28 for an average of 3.50 against.
Despite the PP troubles before today they are 19.3 in the last 8 ,6/31 but on the PK in the last 8 they are 20/23 for an outstanding % of 87% , major reason they are on the 8 game streak.
Should also mention 6 forwards are averaging more then a point per game in this stretch and 1, Morneau has 8 points,as well Christoforo and Woodall have 6 points each in their past 8 games.
Only 2 players have 0 points Mathurin who has missed 5 because of injury and more 3/4 of the game today and Nathan Gaymes is pointless too in 6 games played.
Rookie goalie Michael Newlove has shown he can push for a job here with 2 solid performances back to back nights, almost 116 minutes of action, 2-0 record,no panic in his play 2.60 average and 906 save percentage.
Will be interesting to see what happens this week with the team regarding trade deadline on Thursday OAs and Friday everyone else.
Curious to see what happens who stays who goes and any possible additions.
So far after 39 games it has been a fun ride didn't think they would be this good overall,,unreal home record of 16-2-0-1 and a very solid road record of 13-5-2-0, most goals in the league with 178,that's 4.56 per game,4th best goals against 116 including 5 empty netters,#3 on the PP and #7 on the PK.

Wonder if Bowler rips the band-aid off tomorrow.

If you got teams willing to work with you, making those deals early to get those guys a couple days of practice before the weekend could be valuable. Also once it’s all done, I feel you gotta let the boys know they’re here to stay, nothing else is happening and to focus on the weekend.

It’s exciting as fans, but I can’t imagine how nerve wracking it is in the room. Spits have played a few wild shootouts lately, but I will say, I didn’t think they looked tired for game number 6 today in the 9 day stretch

I wouldn't be surprised if Bowler waits to the last minute so London on Friday doesn't get to play the revamped Spits lol. Players haven't had time to report yet.

Another great, undefeated weekend. The squad displayed great character rallying from a 3-0 deficit yesterday and a 2-0 deficit today. Newlove appears to be the real deal.

I am hoping Bowler does not trade Nesbitt as it sounds he is the player other GMs want in a deal. Trading him would destroy team chemistry. He is exactly the type of player you need to win in the playoffs.

I noticed Spellacy played a bit with Greentree and Protas today. He just cannot break out offensively. Again, if true, and he could be traded, maybe it would be a 1 for 1 deal. Spellacy for McCue? OS benefits because Spellacy has one more year of eligibility than McCue.

It appears Smith to Brampton is back on. Not even sure which d man they should acquire. There isn't many out there. Smith and Gibson are going elsewhere. Mews would cost a ton of assets. They 100% need to bring in a defenseman.

In the East there is not many sellers. The Petes don't have a whole lot to sell, N B already made their major trades. Almost everyone else is somewhat of a contender in that conference.

Haha yeah. It’s either, here’s our team, let’s bring it to em. Or, let’s not show our hand and rally with “we didn’t have A & B” last time we played em.

I’d rather bring the everything, as we have a chance to surpass them in points, even with a few games in hand. Plus London’s expected to win, always. Either you get the upset now and change the tide a bit, or you learn from the loss and develop a plan for later

Sarnia…?

I’m a no on moving Nesbitt. I’d want to keep him and the spits will too. He takes a lot of key draws. OT Powerplay today, and he takes it at center. Plays PP and PK. He’s got a big role for a 17 year old. Unless he Needs out, I keep him.

A few thoughts - wonder if they might trade Winegard to Sarnia for a low pick. Let him go back closer to home and finish there?
Is there any concern on the injury front for goalies? If Costanzo and or Froggett are out for any length of time does it change the landscape on what Bowler may or may not do at the deadline?

Would there be any real harm if the Spits just stand pat this year? Let Kitchener spend and Spits will be in better shape next year?
Be safe.

Edit - forgot to add we have to remember that Nesbitt ( 1st round pick) and Manzo ( high school age) will have a NTC so moving them is not always a given. To be honest I don't want to see either leave and my thought on Wingard was to open up ice for Manzo. Carry on.

Nothing new today yet. All quiet again lol.
Calm before the storm..? Or maybe we will just stand pat.

I can’t imagine Winegard fetches much in a return. Maybe Winegard/Manzo for Young with some mid picks going back and forth? I don’t know. Weird that there’s no chatter today.

Hes cagey no doubt. Hes said he thinks london is beatable this year. He’s definitely been scouting and making calls. Is it smoke, are prices to high and will they come down? Imho if your not in it you move assets to get someone/picks to help down the road. I firmly believe London being so strong has got everyone frazzled. Lets see how it plays out. I believe its calm before the storm.

I heard a deal for at least 1 D is imminent but when that is announced who knows. It could fall through and I have heard so many names I don't know which one it is so I'll leave it at that. Also, bare in mind Mathurin liklely miss more time and waiting on diagnostic tests to determine extent of injury. I heard that this morning.

Truly the need is 2 D. Hearing now a no trade clause in windsor a problem… this shit cant be made up. Once again its full on crazy, the flurry of rumors, then dead silence. The only NT i can imagine is Nesbitt. Heard his name earlier but….

Thinking out loud... could the NTC be Manzo? He's been mentioned multiple times as bait.
