28th overall this year, 1st next year, so picks they should probably start keeping around.

A 3rd in 2024, 2025.

Nick robertson

A bunch of meh prospects.

No exactly the most desirable list of things.

Ok so you tell me -- who was traded in the last 24 hours and tell me we couldn't match those prices?

A bunch of meh prospects is a great way to dismiss everything.

So we have picks and we have some assets... but we can't trade picks and the prospects suck. Sounds about the gist of it. Brad has a lot of work to do with nothing to work with.

So you want meh players for the sake of it. Got it.

Yeah, when you trade your best picks, the prospects end up being pretty meh, as we currently see with the Leafs situation.

And you want great players out of thin air? What is the plan here? I just want to make the additions as they come through. You're saying we have nothing of value but offer nothing else that they should do so is the plan just to sit on our hands in your eyes?

Reilly Smith and Tyler Toffoli are pretty good players that were traded for fairly mild returns. These are 25+ goal scorers given away and the Leafs could have used some scoring quality additions. You can't acquire everyone so it's fine and it's a long off-season. We'll see.

It is exciting that we are keeping our pick and Brad isn't allowed to influence our scouting staff. We'll get a good prospect

Ive accepted the Leafs will just be adding meh players, just hoping they avoid giving out term and 1st round picks for it, hence why Im not worked up over Hayes or Johansen not being Leafs.

The Leafs do not have a comparable to Sherangovich to trade, so I doubt they could match that, so im not mad about the Toffoli deal.

Really only the Smith trade and the Colton Ross deal (if the Leafs were willing to give up their 1st) are the deals the Leafs couldve been in on that I would like. But even then, Smith making 5M next year doesnt seem ideal to me.

It's going to be very meh, so when good players at solid affordable prices get traded to other teams, it's not good for us. We need better quality upfront and someone like Smith, who is a consistent 25+ goal scorer get traded for peanuts is not good. We'll see what Big Brad has in store.

Fair enough.

Not exactly confident in Big Brad, but we'll see :help:

Meier signs for $8.8. What does that do for Nylander's ask?
I think Willie can reasonably demand more as his numbers over the past couple of seasons are better, but how much more?

Sign him to like a $1M deal and I would be fine with it, tbh. He's a big locker room guy and can really shake up the culture.
The only thing that could shake-up the culture here is a core move. Reaves won't move the needle.
