The only way to prevent the Oilers from winning it again is by having someone wearing a black-and-white striped shirt picking the lottery balls.

People are gonna hate this but Detroit deserves it most. One single solitary top 10 pick in the last 25 years.

... At least, that's the argument I'm making to the hockey gods.
I like you guys but you have had some of the greatest teams of all time so get outta here. The 01-02 cup win in particular overshadows the entire existence of several teams. Lidstrom, Yzerman, Hasek, Chelios, Hull, Shanahan, Fedorov, Robitaille, Larionov, Datsyuk on one team? It triggers me just thinking about it.

Without voting for my home team I gotta go with the Islanders (via Calgary for the hilarity) or Sens.

I kind of feel that way too, but only because if they can't afford a team, they shouldn't have one. Not only Ottawa; there are others. No disrespect to the city or the fans, but if it is not working, why force it.

Not sure what you mean by "they", but Melnyk is the cancer that's driving away fans and stripping the team and management just to make a couple extra pennies to rub together.
If Melnyk weren't the owner anymore i'd bet the "financial problems" of the team would quickly go away because the problems are his and he is blaming the team for them.

You probably heard it from those experts I mentioned in previous post.

Dahlin on the other hand was a kid at mens game. A bird without wings, a fish who cant swim.

Him being there was a pr-move that team Sweden management hopes they never made.
he really sucked against Germany in his 2 minutes Time on Ice...

If Melnyk sells the team and they are stable, fine. It is not what I meant. Nothing wrong with Ottawa. I love Kettelmans Bagals. I thought the problem was that they (the Sens) do not have fan support.

Wings have 3 top 10 picks in the last 30 years. 1 top 5 pick in that time.
If there’s a team that deserves a high pick it’s them.

Two whole seasons out of the playoffs and the wings - a virtual dynasty with 4 cups over 11 years in recent history - deserves a lottery pick? They already had 1st overall in 1990. That pick basically became Shanahan - the guy that put them over the top.

I mean, there is currently a less than 7% chance of that happening...
Maybe this piece of crap I concocted will hype every Oilers fan up. I member April 18, 2015.... 7:18pm. :skull:
We are the chosen franchise. Less than 7%? It's nothing.

Hey bro, you've had some amazing players play for your team as well, I don't know why you'd get triggered.

First of all, how dare you?

Second of all, we're at rock bottom already so jokes on you.
Jokes not on me, been down at the bottom long enough so I know how to deal with it. You'll jump ship before it reaches 5 years of no playoffs, gone after the 2nd if your favourite team becomes everyone's punching bag for a decade.

I would like to see conpetitive franchises rewarded rather than perennial bottomfeeders. That said, I don’t think Wings deserve a lottery pick as much as I think it would be unfair if they drop due to better teams winning the lottery. For once they’re in position for a top 5 pick, let them have it.

The biggest story would be Edmonton winning the lottery yet again. I’d be embarrassed if I were an Oilers fan though.

I’d like to see Arizona win it.

Wrong, neither have Arizona and Vancouver (Buffalo?).

Yup, screwed that up. I am in hospital and due to my lack of sleep my brain is killing my “skills,” but I read something about their lack of picks.

It is possible they have fewest top 3- not sure but will remedy my error when I have the chance.

Thx for catching that.

Detroit - Crosby/Lemieux. McDavid/Gretzky. Dahlin/Lidstrom? Will history continue to selfishly reward the elite to a select few teams?
Lidstrom was drafted in the 3rd round in 1989, and the Wings haven't had a top 3 pick in 28 years, so I'm not sure how they were "rewarded" and/or somehow fall into the "selfishly elite" column, compared to the two others. Especially since the Pens had four top 2 picks Four years in a row from 03 to 06.

I won't even go into the number of times the Oilers have had top 5 picks in the last few years, seems to be a given at this point, sadly.

We've been pretty fortunate in Detroit, and while I'd love to land a new franchise defenseman, I wouldn't begrudge Arizona or Vancouver some lottery luck for once.

Why would the Oilers fans be embarrassed lol I would be stoked . Would you be embarrassed if you won the 649 lottery 5 times
YNw5oJj.gif
Seriously... lmao. Embarrassed? We didnt tank, in some of our worst seasons we were close to the cap. We just sucked because a bunch of drunks were managing the team.

Think of it as a tax for watching and paying big bucks supporting them.

Link for source: Edmonton Oilers Team Salary Cap 2009-2010

Year Cap Remaining
9/10 1 602 100
11/12 1 455 970
13/14 3 224 530
15/16 1 938 219

f*** that. Give us Dahlin... If not us let the Coyotes have him (they need and deserve some good fortunes imo), Sabres (went to buffalo to watch the Oil play and met awesome fans), Isles #2 with Cgy pick pls? Carolina too.. I like their team and they haven't been in the post season for a hot minute.

Shame? We get to watch McDavid every game while putting an honest effort stumbling into picking him while others were losing on purpose by managerial sabotaging trades, the embarrassing thing is being a cap team and being at the bottom for so long.

It's going be Montreal.

Oilers, Leafs, NJ, now it's time to fix Montreal.

Rangers will get the #1OV in 2 years if they continue to drop.

I kid... Well, maybe.

Vancouver deserves the lottery. The league is better when we're doing well and the fans of every other team hates us because we're doing so well, and are entertaining. We already have seen what just a single player in Boeser does for us, imagine having Dahlin, Dahlen, Boeser, Pettersson, Horvat and Demko later on. The kids are coming for your villages!
