It’s been the year of controversy in the NHL and it will continue when the Oilers win yet again another lottery.

HF will melt.

It will be epic. Can’t wait

Yep we still remember how better and "years ahead" the Sabres were than the Leafs in 2015 when they drafted Eichel.

You aren't cup contenders...so I care why? You're a meh bubble team with contracts coming up and set to lose at least a full line of depth in komarov, bozak, jvr...you peaked last year.

Have you seen Vancouver's record since February? I think they were saying on the radio they earned 11 pts with the next closest team earning 24. If any team is tanking, its them. They still have a ways to go in making up for all the negative karma from 2011.
Do your research first
Vancouver has been a capped team for the past three seasons, Jim Benning tried to compete but just keep failing miserably.

lol their first year as a team, buffalo deserves dahlin more than any team in the league

That was the same year that the Canucks entered the league and got the 2nd overall pick. They didn't get the 1st overall pick in their first year as a team.

If you don't want your closest competition to become an unstoppable powerhouse, you want to see that pick go to the team most likely to squander draft talent. Unfortunate for that pick, but the Oilers need another #1.

The Rangers deserve it. When was the last time they picked in the top 5?

I was looking at their picks on Wikipedia, and the most recent top 5 pick by them I could find was some dude named Brad Park in 1966. Did I miss something, or have the Rangers not picked top 5 in over 50 years..!? That seems wrong.
isn't that because they were constantly trading picks away to improve their team......

peaked last year? in Matthews, Nylander, Marner, Zaitsev, Andersen ETC first year as a Leaf? .. No comment, not too mention, the guys sitting out in Komarov, Bozak, JVR's, spot could easily make your second line. Have a good night sir

I guess I'm weird but I want Ottawa or Detroit to get the #1 pick.

Don't ask me why. I have a hard time explaining my deepest feelings.

NHL has become all about the draft though and that 1st round. Never trade your top picks and have a long term plan and you will have hope.

If you don't have that you are f***ed.

if you truly want to see HF melt and explode, the Hawks win the lotto and turn back into a juggernaut again!!! You know Bettman wants his top franchise back in the playoffs with those massive ratings.

I'd like to see either Vancouver, Buffalo or the New York Rangers get the 1st pick. I'd be ticked if Chicago, LA or the NY Islanders won it.

Hopefully Ottawa loses the lottery, Karlsson walks and the team moves. That's my Christmas.

I kind of feel that way too, but only because if they can't afford a team, they shouldn't have one. Not only Ottawa; there are others. No disrespect to the city or the fans, but if it is not working, why force it.
