I feel pretty assured we will get a good player at 5 or 6. It’s very obvious who those players are at this point and it feels like there isn’t a bad pick in the lot. What is more interesting is how we make the two seconds pay:

So all year it would switch in a couple weeks? OBrien might not even be a top 6 forwardI’d be willing bet that O’Brien ends up ahead of Martone on many if not most final lists. So if Sweeney then takes Martone, would that be considered a reach?
Central Scouting just named him 4th in NA for their final. Martone 6th.So all year it would switch in a couple weeks? OBrien might not even be a top 6 forward
Have you read a lot of scouting reports through the season? Most I’ve read, which has been a lot says Martone top line player while OBrien O a question. If the Bruins deem OB Higher and both there than what can I say?Central Scouting just named him 4th in NA for their final. Martone 6th.
My point is that final rankings across the board - perhaps even consensus - may very well have OB ranked above Martone. Early rankings mean shit.Have you read a lot of scouting reports through the season? Most I’ve read, which has been a lot says Martone top line player while OBrien O a question. I would love to get Mason West. 6'6 center from Minnesota high school with reportedly good vision, hands, and physical. He's a multi-sport athlete though and has options to go to college for either hockey or football. We'll see where his decision lies.
Rankings aside I’m not sure going by scouting reports all season you could take OB over Porter. I’ll be rooting for whomever obviMy point is that final rankings across the board - perhaps even consensus - may very well have OB ranked above Martone. Early rankings mean shit.
I'm pretty sure Blake Wheeler was a high school QB as well. Him and James Laurinaitis were stars in multiple sports at their school from what I remember reading in Road Warrior Animal's (James' Dad) autobiography. He is a QB at Edina and apparently has received serious interest from Kent St and
Marshall. Now several hockey players from the US were QB's in HS, such as Andrew Copp, Anders Lee and Paul Mara who ultimately chose hockey, all taken in different rounds, but I wonder if he wants to make his mind up in a couple of months.

I know I’ve read all services at various points of the season thru last week. If the choice comes down to the two of them and the bruins want the center that’s fine just don’t try to paint it like he’s the better playerScouting reports change over the season.
But that last line is what we’re talking about. You’re declaring Martone the better player. But the “experts” who you and so many want to lean on for best player available may have O’Brien as the better player, like Central Scouting already has.I know I’ve read all services at various points of the season thru last week. Again going from what everyone has scouted all year up to this point. If you feel like Obrien is the better player than more power to you, I would hope you didn’t form your opinion on who the Bruins take. Again if they want to take a center go for it just don’t try to sell me nonsense. So CSS are “experts” but not the other people? But that last line is what we’re talking about. No, but others haven’t done their final rankings. CSS didn’t have O’Brien above Martone until their final ranking.Again going from what everyone has scouted all year up to this point. It was implied for after the draft. I will use crayon next timeDid Bruins draft already?
This makes no sense.
I'm basing it off the scouting reports I have read from last year through this April, that's all. Those reports to me match Martone being 4th say and O'Brien climbing with the latest batch. I just don't see where or why someone would have JOB leap frog Martone, it screams "dare to be different for no reason" to me.No, but others haven’t done their final rankings. CSS didn’t have O’Brien above Martone until their final ranking.
How would you have felt about Geekie in December versus March? Now do this for much younger, developing players.
I’m not even saying I think O’Brien is better. But saying there’s no way he’s the better player based on older reports, and then wanting the Bruins to only take the best player available breaks when the real rankings - the final ones - come out.
Im not trying to paint anything Lou. I have always waited until the end of the season for my final thoughts. O'Brien has progressed throught the season. Anyone can argue that Martone's offense has regressed. Those are facts. I have hinted that for me, O'Brien may have surpassed him long before any of the recent rankings have come out.I know I’ve read all services at various points of the season thru last week. how so?
Hard to argue with math.-On January 1st, he trailed Michael Misa by 8 points with 6 fewer games played.
-Finished the year 36 points back with 8 fewer games played.
-On January 1 he led O'Brien by 6 points with 9 fewer games played
-Finished the year tied with O'Brien with 9 fewer games played.
First half of the year - 26GP - 21G 33A 54 PTS (.8 GPG - 1.26 APG - 2.0 PPG)
Second half of the year - 31 GP = 16G 40A 44 PTS ((.5 GPG - 1.29 APG - 1.4 PPG)
