I couldn't agree more. There's no need to rush a trade of a guy that's so good. If Hank gets injured, then what?

And why would Hank get injured?

You're acting like the only way we can win games is if we have Talbot as a backup. You all are so incredibly short-sighted with all of this, just like with the MSL trade. You have to think ahead, you have to look outside this season and the future of the organization.

It's probably as simple as we couldn't get what we were looking for in the 1st round. Fine, I can accept that. And I can accept trading post draft. But it's absolute lunacy to keep Talbot for the season, it makes no sense at all.

How is hte best deal no deal at all? I don't understand the logic of this thinking at all. How does not trading Talbot benefit us at all? Do you honestly think those handful of extra wins by having Talbot as supposed to some veteran backup is worth a 2nd round pick? It's this kind of logic as to why we haven't won anything in over 20 years. Part of being a competent organization is trading unnecessary pieces when they have value. Keeping him is incredibly short-sighted and foolish.

For starters, none of us know what's actually been offered or discussed. So we're not even arguing about a tangible fact, at best we're arguing about hypotheticals and rumors and second or third hand information.

Beyond that, I think we may be getting a little carried away with the value of second round picks, even in a deeper than usual draft.

Third, going back to the arguing about rumors and hypotheticals, I'm still not convinced that this team wouldn't prefer a player to a pick at this point.

So frankly, there are a lot of scenarios that need to considered and this board seriously needs to drink a few glasses of wine and chill out a little.

Then we'll have a backup signed in his place for less money that will be able to do the same job. Talbot is not the only half-decent backup in the league.

Why would Hank get injured? Is this a real question? Didn't he get injured a few months ago? Is he getting younger?

Isn't this a contradiction? If we are able to sign someone for less, who can do the same job, why in the world would anyone give us a good draft pick for Talbot?

Pretty sure getting hit in the throat with a shot hurts a 20 year old same as 33.

He's never been injured before. A fluke shot isn't a good reason to not trade Talbot before he walks.

Hank's knees aren't in the greatest shape. Lot of miles on them, and his hips. He will only hold up for so long.

So we should go into every season with two starter quality goaltenders every single season? You're going in with the assumption that Hank will get injured. Again, that's incredibly shortsighted.

It's as simple as Talbot is more valuable as a 2nd round pick than the handful of extra wins he'd bring. And the odds he's more valuable at the at the trade deadline than now is far lower, so why take that risk? Why gamble that some contending team will have a goalie who's injured severely enough that they'd have to get a replacement goalie?
