Looks like there's a concerted effort to go with college-bound players so they stagger development and don't logjam Rochester along the way since they're continuing to make picks.

I also wonder if some other franchises are increasingly hesitant to go the college route given the UFA risk (hi Winnipeg), so there's a bit of a market inefficiency there.

I'm not all that sure he has. NJD's top 6 is stupidly good and Holtz isn't exactly known for knowing what to do in the defensive zone. I'm not surprised that NJD traded him for something they needed, even if it's an overpay.

Yup, Adams has said repeatedly that he wants another bottom 6 C. That could be a 4th liner or a top-9 C. Hopefully, it's the latter.
