Its highly unlikely I think. Theres always a team or 2 in the top 9 that goes a little bit off the board.

obviously it depends on how the draft unfolds and the price, but my focus would still be on jumping from 26/28 to get another top 15 pick than trying to jump up a few spots from #9. we are basically guaranteed a really good player at 9 even without anyone going off board. and as much as I really really want one of the big 3 forwards being discussed. i'm not sure that we would be just as well off with the dman that falls in the event that all 3 are gone...

on the flipside though the difference in the players you can get 10-15 vs 26-28 could be drastic

i might cross my fingers thru the first 8 picks and then use my assets to get another high pick

Good post, I also wonder what the price tag may be. Ziba and Skjei? Hayes and Skjei? Not much less than that. And not either entirely sure that is enough...

Always appreciate your insights, Ola... but I think Skjei is one of the few assets I'd be reluctant to include. My complaints about last year's team were predominantly that there's no one in my book amongst the current crop of forwards who can be counted on for a consistent effort, and to me that makes you expendable in the current environment. I would reduce the rest of the package if offering Zibanejad (his knack for getting hurt and then taking 30 more games to sort it out) or Kreider (don't even know he's out there half the games) in this deal, but for Svechnikov I'd make a borderline crazy investment.

I happen to like Bouchard a lot, including at the 9 spot --- which is where I have him ranked.

Obviously that means there are 8 prospects I like more, but he's in the top 10 for me.
