Rarely post and so feel fairly free to make a fool of myself here, so... while Carolina seems to have found it sensible to declare they are open to offers for the #2, no one here (or elsewhere) seems to feel their price would be ANYWHERE within the realm of reasonability. But I've got to say... I would give up a LOT to get Svechnikov. In my own mind, a LOT could consist of any two of Hayes/Zuccarello/Spooner/Namestikov, plus one of our recently obtained quality defense prospects, plus the #9 and #26.
I'm hoping I draw Edge here or someone else fairly mellow but I'm resigned to taking what comes...
It's a very narrow description of Brady Tkachuk, especially considering what I heard a variety of hockey observers say yesterday. Tkachuk offers a heck of alot more than "a more skilled Tom Wilson". That description also elicits the type of response the @TheTakedown gave.
Always a good read from Joey.Obviously, I'm pumped for tonight. I am really excited for @Joey Bones day 2 reactions. Especially when there will be plenty NYR picks at last.
Maybe the Rangers can send one of their RFA's?
Doubt Spooner gets us a 1st...but Zucc with $ retained?
I'm sorry if I disagree, but I put the comparison you made similar to what Pierre McGuire did with Lias Andersson when he compared him to Jesper Fast. If that's what you see, fine. And, I probably shouldn't have used the term "lazy". I just don't believe it's accurate. So your basing that off of what you heard? Im basing my description of him off of what I watched. And i watched him often. I have seen him compared to alot of players mostly his own brother. Im went a different route.
Tom Wilson is a heck of a hockey player himself. His playoff performance spoke volumes about his game. Tom, will likely be relegated to 3rd or 4th line duties through out his career due to his lack of "skills". The size is there. The motor is there. The physical aspect is certainly there. More importanly, this player imposes his will. He's not a fun guy to play against.
All of the aforementioned traits are similar qualities to Brady Tkachuk. Difference being, Brady is a better skater, with better hands, and better overall skills. Thus, i think this player is destined for a top 6 role where he can apply those skills against other clubs top players.
Need more than just the 27th.Doubt Spooner gets us a 1st...but Zucc with $ retained?
Yes, don't disgrace the legacy of Jamie Lundmark, Rangers.Just a reminder, last year's 9th overall pick was a big reach, Michael Rasmussen. But going back many drafts, the 9th overall pick has had a great history.
Don't mess it up lads.
It'd be kinda funny if the Rangers flipped Namestnikov to Chicago for Nashville's pick and then used it to leap-frog Chicago to get to 7.
