Beautiful looking draft for the Canes.

Kochetkov, Rees, Puistola, Honka, Nikolahev...

Lots of high-risk, high-reward players with those 2nds/3rds. Really like the picks.

To me, you guys clearly win the Day #2 of the draft, especially if we consider the 1st in 2020 for basically 4,25 millions in real money.

I have done no research but if you guys are happy with this draft so am I.

Ditto. My liking this draft is based more on liking the philosophy of buying as many lottery tickets as they could to increase their chances of getting x number of good players.

I don't know Ryan Suzuki from Kristi Yamaguchi, but if we go "chalk" and get as many players as possible, we maximize our chances of getting good ones.

Success rate of 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks ("success" defined by appearing in 100+ NHL games) is almost 30 percent on average. So if that metric holds true then we are "assured" of getting 2 good players at least.

Oh god, Waddell’s going to make a move to replace Faulk without actually moving Faulk. It’s Hamilton all over again.

I predict in the near future we’ll have nothing but defensemen on the roster, all brought on to replace Faulk. Meanwhile, Faulk’s pushing 40, missed 70 games the previous season due to various injuries, and Waddell is still “99% sure” we can find a taker for him.

If we do this, it could/should be the impetus for yet another deal because if we are already backfilling Faulk, what do you do with guys like Fleury, Bean, and McKeown?

And... And I mean let's be serious. We know Faulk. We know him well enough to know defensively he'll be a pylon out there the likes that even Slavin and Pesce struggled to cover up for. And it's not like Washington is stacked with defense. If we move forward with that, I could see it actually weakening the Caps while creating more opportunity for us. Can't hate that.
