Thanks. I wouldn't mind taking another big Dman in the mold of K'AM. Would be really pissed if they take another undersized Dman or forward.

They need to take the best prospect regardless of size. If you focus on size, you end up with a guy like Dylan McIlrath. You should see the responses of the fanbase who drafted him man. It wasn't pretty

I would bold Anaheim on that list for sure. They have two ticking time bombs and no indications that they plan on rebuilding or retooling any time soon.

I’d be shocked. Perry has detonated. Getzlaf is on the brink.

I suspect Vancouver may be willing to part with 10 for immediate help at wing.

I think they will be active in free agency but after the graduations this year + Hughes/Demko likely making the full time jump, their prospect system thins out quite a bit.

I've mentioned it in the past, they seem to be picking players who do really well on the leg strength/agility and fatigue exercises at the combine.

Chytil tested really well in endurance testing, last year Lundqvist, Miller, Gross were top performers in the agility/leg strength exercises. Miller tested #1 in both right and left hand grip. In 2016 Taylor Raddysh was a top grip guy. TY Ronning also scored well at the combine in '16.
I’d be curious to see who else tests well in these areas to observe if these different variables actually suggest future success.

Awesome job noticing this trend, btw!

Yeah I think the leg strength one's really stood out to me, got me looking at other trends.

I forgot to mention Ryan Gropp, #2 overall in the vertical jump in 2015, amongst other tests he nailed.

Liam Foudy had a Great end of the season run in '18, capped it off by destroying the combine, drafted in the teens by Columbus. The Blue Jackets seem to always draft guys who stand out at the combine. Wennberg, Milano, Werenski, Dubois, etc.

While this is completely logical and makes the most sense in the world, this is a franchise that went on a 13 game losing streak and didn't fire it's head coach. They are a bit delusional. Don't think they would mind moving down the draft for some size, speed and scoring immediately.

I’d say Vancouver too just because their ownership is constantly leaning on their management to make the playoffs
Vancouver might want to make a splash. They are hosting the draft, and there is a history of the draft host making a deal in order to get the fans excited. Minnesota traded Burns, NJ traded for Schneider are some examples.

Bolded are the teams that I think would consider moving down or moving their pick to add NHL-ready talent.

1-NJD
2-NYR
3-CHI
4-COL (OTT)
5-LAK
6-DET
7-BUF
8-EDM

9-ANA
10-VAN
11-PHI
12-MIN
13-FLA
14-ARI

15-MTL
16-COL
17-VGK

18-DAL
19-OTT (CBJ)
20-NYR (WPG)

I’d add Anaheim, Minnesota and Vancouver as teams that might be willing to move around.

Anaheim is balancing trying to get one last run out of their old guard, with restocking the cupboard. They already have two picks in the first and might have an interest in a roster player and the ability to add more picks at the same time.

Minnesota is in a somewhat similar boat and might be persuaded to trade down a few spots.

Depending on how things break, Vancouver might have an interest in sliding down a little for a defenseman or a winger.

If dorofeyev is available at #20 i think thats gonna be our pick. Unless someone like kaliyev, newhook or broberg drops.

I'd add Dallas as well, if by the time they get to the draft they've decided to let Zuccarello walk. They'll be looking for a replacement and I could see them willing to give up their 2019 first to get that over giving the Rangers their 2020 first.

I think kaliyev will be there.
Would love to have Kaliyev, but feel like we need to take D if we stay at 20.

Unless they just go BPA and take Two D with their 2nd round picks.

It seems to me like the forward position is stronger than the defensive position in this draft, at least for the 1st round

The term left on his contract is what hurts Kreider trade value

That's the deciding factor.

The question isn't what Kreider's talent is worth, it's whether a team is going to give away a top 10 pick for a contract that expires in a year. The answer to the latter is probably not --- especially when you start looking at some of those markets (Buffalo, Edmonton, Vancouver).

Kreider's value is higher for teams that are either in the playoff picture, just outside the playoff picture, or teams that want to catapult themselves back into said playoff picture. That's why we keep seeing picks in the teens being floated in proposals.

What is dorofeyev’s floor? Could he be a complete bust? I’m guessing he’s a safer pick then Kaliyev?
Wouldn’t mind having a kaapo-kravtsov-doro lines 1-3. Prettt sick.
