In our range with our top pick it's so close between everyone, but in the late 1st range there are some clear studs that will LIKELY be available, guys like Fagemo and Brink at the top. Wouldn't shock me to see guys like Kaliyev, Caufield and Suzuki drop down to that range aswell.
Would take any of them with the late first.

There is also the early and mid second (Dallas) that will be had. Players like Poulin & Beecher come to mind.

For some of the Euro posters (or anyone who regularly watches SHL) anyone know if Joel Lassinantti is a free agent after this season?

Thanks in advance!! :)

If the 2019 draft crop was ranked in terms of how good the kids are and not their NHL potential; Kalle Lopponen would not end up outside the top 31 from my POV.

I would compare him to a Finnish (RD) Jack Johnson type. Good player who also displays more talent than you actually get result on the ice. A bit of a Sean Day type.

Could climb pretty much if he can have a good U18. But overall my best bet is that he just will fall a bit short. Not his biggest fan. But it should be noted that he is a good player today, probably a bit better than many realize.

I agree, I really like this prospect, and it only has a little to do with his March 13th birthday ;)

6 (160) C: Jordan Frasca (CAN)(6'1"/176lbs., Shot: Left, Windsor/OHL)
7 (205) D: Drew Helleson (USA)(6'2"/181lbs., Shot: Right, USNTDP/USHL) *20/21 Boston College Commit*

Very good mock, IMO. Dach might make some on here revolt, but he's got a lot of intriguing tools. Could turn out to be a very good 1C in the NHL. C. Caufield is a big get at No. 23. Scoring forward that can move up and down the ice and contribute on both sides of the rink. Leason is a reach, IMO, at the end of the 1st round, but I do believe he'll make it to the NHL. I feel he'd be a very good bottom-6, grind center and will help with depth for a playoff team. Bjornfot can be a complete defenseman if development goes in the right trejectory. Very good under pressure and doesn't cough the puck up. Very good pick there. Tracey has been the biggest riser on most rankings recently. He's a scoring winger who's had one of the best rookie years in the WHL. Style is similar to Jordan Eberle. Mastrosimone is a good get in the 3rd and has BU ties. Can see him excelling in NCAA despite his size. I don't know anything about Gritsyuk. Gildon, like Leason, can be a very good depth scorer on a playoff team's bottom-6. Speedy and fast paced. Like his style of game. Don't think Frasca gets drafted. Helleson is a good gamble in the 7th as a nice steady defender. Could add some more offense to his regimen.

Thoughts?

Like I said the other day, my preference wouldn’t be Dach at 5 (especially with who’s left on those mocks), but I definitely wouldn’t complain. I don’t love Leason, but if we ended up getting Caufield at 23, I’d be so happy that I wouldn’t care who else was taken with pretty much the rest of our picks

@Joey Bones I’m surprised Tracey is just getting the attention now. He’s been playing really well all year, and he was a dominant player in bantam. He’s got some incredible offensive skill, but the only thing that will hold him back is if he doesn’t round out his game. He can be, uh, rather lax defensively. Let’s leave it at that.

I am not Dach’s biggest fan in terms of where I have him ranked, but I definitely wouldn’t mind having him in the mix. Maybe he needs a little more time, but it feels like he can’t be that far away from playing on a line with Ziba. Kravtsov-Ziba-Dach :)

That win last night makes me feel like the Rangers are going to end up with Zegras.

see my draft strategy below. I'm all done.

Updated mocks....
Sign me up at the idea of getting Dach, Heinola & Nikolayev or Dach, Cauflied and Leason. However, am skeptical at a mock that has Broberg & Soderstrom going ahead of Byram.

All the mocks seem to have Vlassic, Newhook, Brink, Pelletier, Hogslander all floating around the are where the Rangers would pick again. Which would be just fine.

Joey B- I think Gorts and Clarke will be a little more picky with our later picks. Find guys who are little more clear cut for potential roles in the NHL. A little better skaters etc.

I think many quality defenders will go late in the 1st. It’s also certainly possible to find some off the board gems, from for example Russia, later in the 1st.

I'm about to start scouring scouting reports and binging highlight videos of guys that are likely to go somewhere in the top 10.

Excluding Kaapo, Hughes, Byram, and Podkolzin, who should I start with?

Cole Caufield ;)

In more seriousness, Cozens, Dach, Turcotte, and Zegras will probably round out the top 8, then it’s a little more wide open after that

Right now sounds like the board would be overall thrilled to see the following in blue:

Hughes, Kakko, Byram, Cozens, Turcotte

Then some mixed reviews but overall very happy to land:

Podkohlzin, Zegras, Dach

Then more mixed feelings on:

Boldy, Caufield, Broberg

About right?

My questions are:

1. Which player in each group scares you the most?
2. Which player in each group do you think the NYR has higher than we do?
3. Who not listed could be this year's Kravtsov?

I agree with your breakdown. I so hope we can somehow stay in that first tier. Guess wouldn't be too upset if we landed Dach or Zegras. We know Podkolzin is talented with excellent compete level but when is he coming over to North America. I'm not waiting 5 years if I'm the Rangers.

1.) I guess Cozens scares me the most in first tier just some feel he may have the most bust potential but that worry level would be low for any of those 4 imo. Group 2 definitely Podkolzin. Group 3 Boldy but he has more upside potential then the other two.
2.) Thats a great question. I definitely don't know maybe someone else might have some insight to that.
3.) In terms of late riser? For us I hope we aren't picking 9th this year so we don't have to go "off" the board too much.

Jesus if you can get caufield with that Winnipeg pick that’s a home run.
yeah we are probably getting our hopes up too high again like last year (but I must say we were successful in grabbing Miller which would have definitely been gone with the next pick in the draft). Maybe there is a slight chance if the Jets don't win the division and then lose by end of round 2.
