by the time Byram, Miller, et al are ready we will have cleared a nice chunk of cap space. Add a free agent scorer or two to the roster being developed now and I think we would be happy fans.

I think we can assume Kakko and Hughes are going 1 and 2. If we get the third pick I would go Byram and then look for forwards with the Wpg. pick and second rounders we have. If we pick in the 6 to 9 range he will be gone. then they go by their board.

Do people see Byram running a PP at the NHL level?

Trying to figure out where he is on the “1D scale.” Is he Bouwmeester, McD, or Suter?

Yes.

He doesn't have that cannon, but hes great at opening up lanes with his feet for either a pass or a SOG. His lateral maneuverability is exceptional.

I'd say hes a perennial 50-55 pt McDonagh.

its all academic tbh

byram and cozens and dach and turcotte are all off the board if we end up with the 9th pick.

i think we all need to start focusing on those players we believe will be available when we realistically step up.

7-10 range sadly.

so lets talk about whos gonna be there realistically.

I’m surprised that Zegras isn’t being mentioned more. With where we realistically will be picking he seems like a fantastic choice. Take the kid from Bedford if the pick is around 8-9.

Yeah I’m all in on Zegras in the 7-10 range.. Him or Krebs.

Right now, 6 is very much in play, especially for a team that's lost 6 in a row and doesn't have a cakewalk schedule.

But I also think it depends on how one views the top 10.

Every year there's this paranoia that sets in, usually around March, that the guys "we" want will all be off the board before we pick. And magically, every year, the cut-off seems to be right before we pick. And it usually turns out that anywhere from 1-3 of the guys we swore would be off the board, are indeed still there.

im thinking that podkolzin is going to fall into our laps.

there will be a few risers and fallers of course but when we step up at 7 or 9 or whatever it is, i have this feeling that podkolzin is gonna be the guy. and then we will hear he was the guy all along.

not too dissimilar from last year.

Yes, Krebs is another one that seems to be flying under the radar. He’s done lot with almost no support. Incredible motor on that kid.
Also he’s listed as a LW but has been playing center and Kootenay fans seem to think he’s definitely a center long term.

Newhook, Zegras, Krebs, Boldy, Podkolzolin, Dorofeyev

And he could be. I've had Podkolzin anywhere from third to 7th in my rankings. I also think a guy like Boldy might end up going early than this board tends to have him.

That doesn't even take into that just about every year there are guys we aren't talking about going higher --- typically anywhere from once to several times.

All names who could be in player within the top, possibly even before we pick.

Absolutely but add those names to Hughes, Kakko, Cozens, Byram, Dach, Turcotte and you have a 100% chance of getting one of them in the top 10, unless they go completely off the board which wouldnt surprise me

ISS Posted up March Rankings a few days ago. Not sure if it was posted on the thread.

ISS Hockey Releases ISS Top 31 for March, Rankings of the Top Prospects for the 2019 NHL Draft - ISS Hockey

ISS TOP 10

Hughes
Kaapo
Byram <-- Highest i've seen Byram, but I like the player
Podkolzin <--I have him 3, but i think he falls to 7-10 range. Screams NYR pick to me.
Cozens
Dach
Boldy
Zegras
Turcotte <--I have Turcotte higher then most at 4
Lavoie <--Over Krebs? Hmmmm!

Was a surprised about their take on Lavoie, but Dennis Mackinnes loves the guy...

“Raphael has a great package of size, skating and skill – he has great offensive instincts and has been tearing up the QMJHL with 24 points in just 12 games; he has worked hard to improve his consistency and as a result his confidence has grown and he’s now starting to take his game to the next level. Raphael has pro-level release on his shot and projects as a top-six forward with offensive upside.”

I'm going to predict that Podkolzin is this years faller. Falls into the mid-late teens, where we trade up and snag him.

Yes, Krebs is another one that seems to be flying under the radar. He’s done lot with almost no support. Incredible motor on that kid.

No support in a really tough situation.

I love the player. He checks every box for what the Rangers want.

What do you guys think about Podkolzin? Seems like there is a bit of disagreement on where he should go. I've seen him as high as 4 and as low as 14.
