Dorofeyev played 11 minutes today for MMG in their OT win over Ufa. The series goes back to Ufa, tied 2-2!

Dorofeyev getting 10+ minutes in back-to-back games when the team is trailing in the series, is huge. This kid is going to be the steal of the draft if he falls outside the top-10

If he could legally shorten his name to Doro, that'd be great.

What do people see Hughes becoming? I've been seeing some doubt about him. Will he develop the goal scoring? People say he's comparable to Kane but Kane has elite shots.

Can Kakko play Center? What would #2 cost?

Turcotte is looking juicy... IF they like him, they need to get their guy

Dorofeyev will be shortened to Dorofeev once he makes it to the NHL.

I think Hughes is closer to Hischier than MacKinnon.

Kakko plays all 3 forward positions but seems to be best on the left wing

I'm starting to lean towards Kakko becoming the 'better' player.

Speaking of overager LHD, Axel Bergkvist had 1+1 in Leksand's 4-1 win over Örebro in SuperElit Top10. He leads all defencemen in points and goals by far and is 10th in overall scoring and 6th in goals, only Broberg is matching him in terms of PPG. He is firing away like Dougie Hamilton, averaging 3.5 shots per game with only five players having a higher shots/game average among players with 10+ games. He isn't riding shotgun on an offensive powerhouse either, being only one point off the team lead in points and tied for first in goals.

While I agree that piling up LHD prospects is probably not the best course of action, Bergkvist is in my book intriguing enough and will likely be available late enough in the draft to be a no-brainer pick despite the organizational makeup.

Left wing? Kakko is easily the best on RW

Sioux Falls is far deeper than Sioux City and I don’t even know if Brink would be the minute eater he is if he switched. It’s a gut call based on live viewings, and because there’s a chance Quinn recruited him at BU and the rumor was the NYR wanted O’Brien last year, and they’re similar players.

Johnson is another kid everyone’s in love with. Literally. He did some number on Podkolzin at the WJAC and he’s an excellent skater.

I'm very high on Johnson. He can skate at an NHL level, looks a lot like Shea Theodore, Chowlowski in that regard. Prospect D that fit that mold are more likely to be NHLers than not imo. Very smart player too, knows when, where and how to pressure.

Brink has the skill and clamor for the Rangers. With that little nugget that Quinn recruited him for BU, makes the rumor a little stronger, IMO. ;)

Meh, I like Johnson's speed and tenacity, but not liking his odds at becoming a pro right away (committed to U. of Minnesota in the 20-21 season). Seems like a project pick to me with not much offensive upside. I'd pass until after the 2nd round. Getting a lot of Martinez vibes from him, don't you think?

IMO it's a matter of physical maturity with Johnson. If he beefs up, then he's not a project. Right now he's rail thin, but a good 2 year stint at a strength and conditioning program will change that project risk away. Now if he can't put on weight or muscle, which happens (see Colton Teubert/Zach Hammill), then you've got a problem. I don't have an issue with him being 3+ years out.

Need to get at least one high risk, high return winger, and an offensive-minded defenseman in the first round. Hopefully one of the two options (Dallas or Tampa) hits and we get another first. The Presidents Trophy winner has a 25% chance of winning the Cup, though Tampa is so dominant, the odds should be higher. Dallas probably has a 1/4-1/5 shot of going to the WFC. Let's say it's 50-50 odds. We need that pick because we lack top end young talent.

One of the centers (Dach/Cozens/Turcotte/Zegras) and Brink/Kaliyev is my dream first round.

I have a feeling Brink and Kaliyev are going to go in the top-20, though. Kaliyev could go top 10.

Tampa has a 13.2% chance to win the Cup according to Moneypuck and Dallas at 8.7% at getting to the WCF

Edit: No team is ever going to get close to having a 25% chance at winning the cup before the playoffs in the cap era, league is too close.

Edit2: Seems i was wrong here, Tampa is Close to 25% according to some models, but Tampa is also an anomaly.

Whatever odds they come up with are suspect because they don't say don't say around 10-15%, they say something specific like 13.7% - really .7%?

There were 8 of 32 Presidents Trophy winners taking the Cup since the Trophy was introduced. 8 of 32 is 25%. And Tampa is one of the more dominant regular season winners. It's not squeezing in, it's 15 points ahead of the next best team.

I would think the Rangers would be most interested in right handed defensemen, particularly ones with some size, and wingers. Grant Hutton would fill a big organizational need. Both Mason Bergh and Colt Conrad have attended Ranger development camps and David Quinn would have recruited Bobo Carpenter.

Respectfully disagree. Hes got a higher ceiling then Hischier when he was drafted. I see him as an Auston Matthews lite.

I'm interested in Hutton.

NYR have been one of the more successful teams to attract college FA's the last season. As a team short on cap and with a barren farm it was often the easiest way to get into the NHL and both earn NHL money on a ELC and showcase themselves for the second contract. I fear we will not see ourselves with the same luck the next years as the farm gets clogged and the road to NHL trough us longer. Might be some exceptions like local kid Fox.

I never said Hughes isn't better than Hischier. He's just not as good as Matthews, MacKinnon and McDavid. I think he's probably a little bit below Jack Eichel as well. He's better than Hischier, but not by much

It’s based on a mathematical model, ofcourse it Will come up with a specific number.

Correlation now isn’t the same as before the cap was implemented, the league has gotten much closer. The desparity between the 16th team and PT winners were HUGE before the cap, now it’s Not huge, hence why using any data from before the cap was implemented is bad and scews the results.

Edit: Also using such a small sample to get to a 25% result is ehum... interesting…

Edit2: The models using xG have Tampa at ~23% (Micah McCurdy and Dom Luszczsvzvvsczvsczvzcsczvzsvszvsyns models). Worth noting that this is an anomaly, 23% odds to win pre playoffs is much higher then normal.

Caulfield has that it factor, he seems to control the puck and the ice. If you haven't noticed the NHL is changing. Caulfield has every talent/skill box checked, and is shifty enough to create space and his size not be a problem. See Kucherov, Point, Gaudreau, Kane, DeBrincat, Marchand etc.
Like, say, Mitchell Marner?
