I don’t get the hardcore love for Korpisalo. Yeah he played great during the playoffs and was slightly above average during the regular season. But his two previous seasons were .897 sv%. He’s never started more than 37 games in a season. Is he that much of an upgrade over Mrazek/Reimer that we have to give up a solid draft pick for him?

I’d much rather target Crawford to be a part of a 1A/1B tandem here in Raleigh on a short term deal. Crawford has been pretty darn consistent his whole career, including last season.

I agree that Crawford makes sense as a target.

And to tie it in earlier, Crawford makes Ned more important as the #3 goalie because there is a greater chance a #3 is needed if Crawford is part of the platoon.

For all the hand-wringing about our goaltending situation and the "please, just do SOMETHING", I have to disagree. I think GMBC has a knee on the throat of this situation by staying patient.

At the outset of last season, I hated the fact that both Mrazek and Reimer were signed for 2 seasons...with the number of quality goaltenders likely to be available, I figured they would be anchored with liabilities they couldn't dispose of. Instead, I love where the Canes are with their goaltending situation today. Man, what a great position to be in...so many possibilities, and you get to pick from your favorite.

For a team like PHX or OTT who needs cap $ without paying actual $, have we got a player for you in Reimer.
If you're looking for a #1 who is young and cheap, you could do worse than Petr Mrazek at $3.25M.

Both are so easy to back-fill, just work deals and see if anything comes up in your favor, but hey, if none pan out, f*** it...stick with the two guys who delivered for you last year and tee it up again next year.

What would be your plan after trading one of them? What would you want to do with the cap space?
Uhm, nothing? Other than finding a cheap stay-at-home 3rd RHD.

maybe its just me but i dont see krug as a Petro replacement. It's a slight downgrade. Thats not a knock on krug good player but petro is better imo. If i were them i wouldve found a way out of that Faulk contract and signed Petro but whatever.

Okay, but if there's no plan, we can just keep them around and afford a cheap RD. What's the point? Oh, that's right, the irrational hatred for these two. Gotcha.

And believe me, my point isn't they're amazing. I think they're both fine. But seems like there should be a plan for getting rid of them. Otherwise you can just keep them and not play them.

Hatred? No, silly goose, it's just seen as a colossal waste of, what...$9M/year for 3 years and another $5M the year following?
All I'm saying is if you get rid of them, at least have a plan for what to do. No point to save the money IF Dundo is willing to spend it. And I don't personally think getting rid of them for nothing makes us better unless there's an accompanying move.

Our borg is inside playing Mario kart while others are partying. I'm bored and want them to do the equivalent of snorting a line of cocaine, stealing a Ferrari, and picking up tons of hot chicks.

Who else is on board??

*Ric Flair woo gif*

OT: I was in a meeting where some west coast hipster insulted the great ric flair and others didn't even know who he was, weeks ago. I made sure to put them in their place and they're crying into their fedoras two weeks later.
