What constitutes as major
Like is a Chinakov trade or another Girard Kulak deal major?Big pieces out or in. Maybe we get a summer deal or something right after UFA, but historically it seems like all the trades for the most part are wrapped up by July 1 with maybe a few drizzling through right after.
Yep that's what I said earlier. Once it gets to tomorrow teams will have cold feet about dealing those top 10 picks.feels like no major moves this summer for us if we don’t see them today or tomorrow tbh.
This place: "I want this team to get younger and acquire low cost players to build value up for"
Also this place: "trading for Zary is just wanting to do something for the sake of doing something"

Because I don’t think we’re doing anything beyond that regardless of timing.
Well none of that is happening.No. I’m talking about moving up in the draft, bringing in a player like EP, or moving Karlsson.
I’ve been involved in hockey, ice and street. Football. Boxing. I only have a handful of VPs reporting to me now but I’ve overseen hundreds of people during my career.
The yelling at people, treating them harshly, has never been an effective way to motivate people.
Not to be mister negative, but don't think any of the above happens. Would not at all be surprised if they:No. I’m talking about moving up in the draft, bringing in a player like EP, or moving Karlsson.
I dont see that Zary will produce much more than Koivunen or McGroarty for example. Not sure about others but that's not my position on Zary.
We're dealing from a position of strength (2nd rounders) for a guy we might be able to pump up his value and ultimately trade him.
Well none of that is happening.
If they move up it’ll be like a few spots.
Their board said KJ skipped off-season workouts, coming into camp out of shape last year. Since Columbus sorta has a win now roster, would they do Rakell straight up?Sure.
I need to make a sign to tap but like I said it is a function of the price
All things are.
Like I don’t think of Nikishin like you do but I’d do it for 22OA straight up.
If Kent only takes 54OA, I’d do it.
Not to be mister negative, but don't think any of the above happens. Would not at all be surprised if they:
a) move down the draft ("We tried to move up but there weren't any deal that made sense, so we moved down and added another pick")
b) Re-sign Mantha ("Anthony had a great season with us last year and really fit well into our core group (plus we need to reach the cap floor but we can't say that out loud)")
Its because this season was an anomaly. We will get our share of top picks soon enoughFeels like we are truly the only team in the mushy middle at this point.

I dont see that Zary will produce much more than Koivunen or McGroarty for example.
Unless they think he has some untapped offensive potential
We will see. Hard to argue with the last 372 days of Dubas so I gotta trust it. But I have said many times I think we should go harder at a full tank/strip down for a few years so I don’t necessarily disagree on direction.Feels like we are truly the only team in the mushy middle at this point.
Yeah im with you. Just dont know if Zary is the next Chinakov tbh. But im all for using some 2nds on younger players. Preferably a few years younger than ZaryThat's certainly a risk, but you have to take a swing.
ANd that's part of my philosophy with this: you have a ton of 2nds. It's not about using it on Zary necessarily but use one of those picks on a guy like this.
Idk w/o knowing what I could get for Raks on the market. But prob not.Their board said KJ skipped off-season workouts, coming into camp out of shape last year. Since Columbus sorta has a win now roster, would they do Rakell straight up?
It's Columbus, so always assume they'll do the dumbest thing possibleTheir board said KJ skipped off-season workouts, coming into camp out of shape last year. Since Columbus sorta has a win now roster, would they do Rakell straight up?

I don’t agree. Roster has no juice to do anything significant, even if you dropped Jason Robertson on top of it without trading any current pieces out.Disagree to be honest. Roster still has significant upside if some of our younger guys can make a push and Muse has the team bought in and did a good job with development.
Kindel/Koivunen/McG/Zonnon or whoever have 0% chance of replacing Sid or Geno when they quit. And we are even further from replacing EK.Disagree to be honest. Roster still has significant upside if some of our younger guys can make a push and Muse has the team bought in and did a good job with development.

Our D outside of EK is ASS. our middle 6 is acceptable but mushy as it kinda leans on how Malkin is playing but maybe Kindel steps up.
Idk. Maybe you’d win a round but I think we kinda hit our ceiling last year and no realistic additions can really help push past that.
I’ve said this before but my suspicion is that the plan is similar to what Armstrong did in St Louis (believe he and Dubas are close) or more recently what Washington has done. Just long term asset maxxing and big on drafting and developing whilst being competitive. Slight adjustments year to year depending how the team plays.Oh, I don’t think we are beyond a playoff team, but I don’t think we are top 10 draft pick without significant injury and I think you’re overrating how bad the D is.
Also we will be adding some cap at some point.
