OT: Down the Wabit Hole (Boredom Thread)

Rough plans are:
-Move to Daytona for Embry, Aerospace Engineering,
-AZ online for ECE, maybe swap it to aerospace and rent an apartment for the year of in person stuff.
-ASU online for astronomical and planetary sciences.

If the schools all say I'm too dumb to do the smart people stuff, I'll go in person to Beloit College (not a bad commute), or online somewhere and figure things out as I go. I could do the Madison or MKE in person commute, but I'd play chicken with a tree if I had to drive in those cities daily.
Embry-Riddle, huh? That's a boyhood dream of mine. Go **** yourself. Also, I hope you get in and knock it out of the park. :)

The only reason it's an option is because the inlaws are in FL. I've resigned myself to the fast we're going to be moving down there within a few years so the wife can take care of her mom anyways.

I've been looking at some 5-10 acre properties within driving distance of the school So we can put a 2nd house on the property along with a couple of conex containers for my hoarder MIL so she's not paying $15k a year in storage fees. She's not adding anything new, just won't get rid of anything.

I'm a little embarrassed to say this, but it's for me not the kid. Uncle Sam will be footing the bill for the schooling. I'm just waiting for the wheels of bureaucracy to spin enough to spit out that approval letter. FAFSA is done.

I'm mostly looking at online schooling, since there's one one school I'd move to attend in person. This all scares the hell outta me.
Glad you're using your GI Bill. Make sure you put in for the MN 9/11 bonus too if you haven't already as well. State does have some offerings that you may wanna look into BEFORE you change your Drivers License to something else lol.

Opening the pool for the year is a PITA. It's one of those aboveground ones that you setup. We turned it into a saltwater pool last year (the wife is allergic to chlorine) and tired something for winterization that didn't work (user error probably).

3 days of filtering the water so far and probably 2 more before I can get in a give the sides and bottom a good scrub.

I joined the iPhone cult today. As soon as I held it I immediately felt like I was better than those android losers. But on the flip side I now have an inferiority complex because I didn't get the latest and greatest iPhone.

Joking aside (I couldn't care less about phone brands) the iPhone works with the hearing aides I just got from the VA and my Samsung didn't.

So it's 5:30 in the morning and I get a text from the kid:
I just f-ed up my bed at a KT
I'm so unhappy
It's your child btw

My reply was: "Who dis? New phone."

All the while I was wondering is:
Who is this KT you're f-ing?
Why are you telling "me" this info? This is "mom territory."
Is this really my kid or a wrong number? (I don't save names/numbers in my phone.)

10 mins later she walks in in tears saying she f-ed up her bed. I'm still wondering how she f-ed up her bed and why was she even awake 5 hours earlier than normal.

Then she takes me outside and shows me her truck and it made a bit more sense. She somehow got stuck on one of those cement gas pump barriers. Panicked and tore up the side of her truck bed, scraped the hell out of the driver side doors, and pushed the back of the back of the cab in/back good 4."

I'm outside looking at it and doing my damnedest not to just bust out laughing at the whole thing as she's explaining it all.

For the DnD nerds on here. This looks like it would be cool as hell to be a part of.

This is the cynical jerkwad in me, but dios mio: getting through combat rounds in DND is tedious enough. Adding 3 layers of bureaucracy on top of that sounds like torture. "This encounter could've been an email!"

So this means you're all in, right?

I wouldn't want to be on of the DMs for this, but as a player it would be fun to try out. Maybe as an online player and not in person though. That could potentially be a very potent smelling area, depending on how many of the nerds forget to practice proper hygiene. 🤢

@BagHead I updated the team color scheme for you.

It's just a fun style reference I like to play with.

Neat, I just sold something on my redbubble store today. That little $2 profit sale just made my day. It's not the money, it's that someone liked what I put up there enough to spend their own money on it.

I set it up around Halloween last year and just left alone after I setup what I thought was a decent inventory. No advertising, no mass social media setup directing to it. I did set all that stuff up, but once I had it all setup I was just done with it all. I was more interested in the process of getting everything setup than making it into something I had to maintain.

Oh, I wish I knew what you said.
I'll move my reply to this thread. You can't derail a thread that never had rails to begin with. :naughty:

Something along the lines of:
1. Drop trow(ers) and give us something else naked to stare at instead.
2. I gave you an easy out after you said you didn't like this has gone. But you went with naked instead and left that door wide open. All you had to do was sent me a DM for the affiliate links to those type of sites.
3. It's like a seeing a trainwreck, you can't help but stare.

I forget which one I ended up using. Probably 2 because it's more wordy and open ended.

Then I remembered the wife had already put me in timeout for something I said. Then threatened to change the locks after I doubled down on it. It was hilarious, she just had no sense of humor. So I figured I'd self moderate myself before I got in trouble on here too.

I just finished the build of a new pc for my MIL. It's not top of the line, but it's as close as I could get it with her $2k budget. Running some stress tests and benchmarks on it now. From what I've seen so far I'm extremely jealous.

I'm giving myself a crash course on the high end Adobe AI things (what she wants it for) to see if/when it bottlenecks or starts to get too hot. I really just want to put some of my steam games on it and play on max settings.

Today I could use seeing cheerful/funny stuff. We had to put down the old dog we inherited a couple years ago (it was time). So I'm feeling pretty shitty right now.

I'm sorry. I know the feeling, it's so hard. Hugs.

The fatherinlaw that live a bit north of Tampa got home after bugging out for Milton. The only pics of damage they sent was to floor the porch off their deck. Their deck is ~15 feet above ground level. I'm guessing it's more rainwater damage. They had 4' of standing water in the ground floor/garage from the previous hurricane. Totaled 1 car. They had to tear out the bottom sheet of drywall and insulation from the flooding.

The motherinlaw has a house that is about 6 blocks away from where the dumpster on top of the house from a tornado that keeps getting shown on tv.

So I'm going to UND this semester, they actually have an aerospace engineering online program. There are a couple labs where I'll have to go campus in the summer for, but they only last a week. I'm playing it safe and only took a 12 credit course load.

The English Comp class is going to be interesting. They have some discussion boards I have to post on. So far I'm refraining from being myself on them.

Math is Pre-Calc. I wanted to start off with a refresher and get comfortable with whatever programs they use for the online stuff.

Some Python coding class that the prof didn't update from last semester so nothing is working.

The Intro to Engineering class which looks interesting. Lots of CAD on a program I haven't used before.

I got some cool swag in the mail today:
