Hinostroza is 30 and a known quantity at the NHL level. We don't need any more tweeners at the NHL level, although he's nice to have in the event of injury issues.

Kemell probably isn't that close to being called up and may not produce if he did get the chance, but at least it would be a look at someone new that has a chance to keep getting better.
I would definitely let Kemell get on a nice roll in Milwaukee this season, I wouldn't call him up unless we were so decimated by injuries that he had guaranteed top-6 utilization and a spot on the PP. There's really no point in just bringing him up to ride the pines or eat hot dogs. Which is almost certainly what would happen to him under Bruno.

I don't see any point in switching Jankowski and Hinostroza either. They're both going to do great in the AHL, and nothing in the NHL. Anyway, the main things the Preds need to fix are more systematic and getting some bigger name players producing, fiddling with the finer details isn't really going to make a difference.

I do think there's a chance Parssinen would clear waivers, and agree that Tomasino probably wouldn't. But I don't see any use in sending Parssinen back down. He's not going to get faster, and he's already a good enough player to be playing every day if they were willing to use him. More time in the AHL isn't really going to help him get better. They're both at the stage of needing more time in the NHL. Or a change of scenery if that's what it takes to get the time in the NHL.

Just stat watching it looked like Kemell had a slow start to the season before exploding in the last game right? A hat trick and a 5 point night is incredibly impressive I do think he needs to show more consistency before he gets the call up.

Ozzy up next?
He better not be. No disrespect intended to him, it's really nice that we found a player on the scrap heap who we feel is worth keeping and who has resurrected his prospect value in our organization. Go Ozzy! But... he has 2 assists in 6 games. I get he plays with energy and the team likes his enthusiasm, but... we don't need a smaller version of Nick Cousins up to save the day on our 4th line right now, do we? :dunno:

Dunno but could he really be worse than what we've seen out of most of our 4th line this season? Ain't like you couldn't waive McCarron and Smith and anyone would take them, and even if they did they would probably be doing you a favor.

After a week off, the Admirals play in Winnipeg versus the Moose. The Ads have won 6 in a row.

Ozzy will be playing tonight, after missing a game.

Last year, the Ads won 5 of 8 games versus the Moose, 3 of those on the road.

The western Canadian Matt Murray will be in goal, seeking his 5th win of the season, with .940%
The Admirals have 14 Canadian born players on the roster this year. I expect a good effort.
Karl Taylor mentioned that the Ads have been winning 47% of face offs. He wants that to be 55%.

The other starters were Jake Livingstone and Kevin Gravel on defense. Lucchini centers Vinnie Hinostroza with Reid Schaefer on the left wing. Lucchini is wearing an A in place of Del Gaizo.

Schaefer (5) scores 7 minutes into the game on the blocker side, Hinostroza (8) gets his AHL leading 12th point (7 game point streak) and Lucchini (4) had the second assist.

In the last 10 seconds, Kieffer Bellows (4) scored a PPG with assists to Fedor Svechkov (2) and Vinnie Hinostroza (9) to make it 2-0 Admirals.

Milwaukee gets another PP carrying over to Period 2. The SOG were 10-8 Moose. The Moose were 0 for 3 on the PP. The Ads were 1 for 2 so far, with a 1:50 still coming in Period 2.

Adam Wilsby was playing with Ryan Ufko; Nick Blankenburg with Luke Prokop on defense.

Ozzy is playing with Ratcliffe and Angello? I think that was a partial line change.

The PK1 is O'Reilly and Kemell.
PK2 is Lucchini and Schaefer with Wilsby and Blankenburg.
PK3 was Angello and (?) with Wilsby and Blankenburg.

The PP1 was Ozzy, Vinnie and Bellows with Svechkov and Blankenburg.

In Period 2, the Moose scored about 3 minutes in to make it 2-1 Admirals.
The Moose scored a shorty to make it 2-2. On the NEXT face off, Reid Schaefer (6) scored an unassisted PPG backhander over the glove to make it 3-2 Ads.

That was Milwaukee's second PPG of the game with 7:15 remaining in Period 2. (This is the first time this season in eight games that Milwaukee has scored two PPGs in a game.) The SOG were 10-8 Moose again. The totals are 20 to 16, so far.

In period 3, Milwaukee scored a third PPG at 6:56 via Blankenburg (3) "with a hammer of a shot" and assists going to Hinostroza (10) and Bellows (3) to make it 4-2 Milwaukee. They have 4 goals on 20 SOG tonight. That makes the third assist for Hinostroza tonight. Three of 4 on the PP!

O'Reilly has been the center for Ozzy and Ratcliffe in this period, if not for the whole game. The Moose pulled their goalie, Thomas Milic, with about 3 minutes remaining. The Admirals kept sending long shots that missed the empty net. Blankenburg nearly scored an ENG on a bank shot. It was stopped in the crease. Schaefer just missed a hat trick at the end of the game.

The Ads win their 7th game in a row!

The SOG were 12-8 Moose and 32-24 overall. The Moose had a lot of SOG in the last three minutes. The Ads had 8 SOG in each period.

Schaefer was the #1 Star and Murray was the #3 Star of the Game with 30 saves.

These two teams play again tomorrow night at 6 PM CT.

The Admirals have scored 30 goals and have given up 15, so far. That is 3.75 GF per game against 1.88 GA per game.
And Reid Schaefer is the goal leader... not kemell, Hinostroza, or bellows... reid schaefer. I mean i know he was getting into a groove at the end of last season so i was expecting a better season but... wasnt expecting this.

Milwaukee is playing at the Moose again. Angello is injured and not playing. Wall is playing tonight.

The starters were Chrona (.934%) in net, with Gravel and Livingstone on defense. Up front was Hinostroza centering Lucchini and Schaefer.

Lucchini scored a goal and crashed into the goalie, so it was waived off. Fedor Svechkov (3) scored off of a defender with assists to Cal O'Reilly (6) and Joakim Kemell (4) at 6:14.The Moose scored an unassisted goal to tie the game. The SOG were 13-8 Moose.

In Period 2, Jake Lucchini (1) scored on a deflection off a Kevin Gravel (3) slap shot. Vinnie Hinostroza (11) had the other assist to make it 2-1 Admirals. The second period lasted over an hour. With about 5 minutes remaining, an entire Ads front line was jawing with Moose players for an extended time. That was Ozzy and Ratcliffe with Lucchini. Nobody got a penalty. The SOG were 11-11 and 24-19 overall.

In Period 3, Aaron Sims said that the game "was a marathon tonight". That was 2 hours and 40 minutes after the start time, with 6 minutes remaining in regulation. (The last 6 minutes of period 2 took 15 to play.) The Moose took a timeout with 3:22 remaining. Goalie Domenic DiVincentiis was pulled. Ratcliffe shot at the empty net and his stick broke. At 17:20, Hinostroza (5) hit an ENG, with an assist to Ozzy (3) and Schaefer (1). At 18:04, Mutter (1) scored a long ENG to make it 4-1, with an assist to Livingstone (1).

The Moose were 0 for 6 on power plays. The SOG were 9-8 Moose and 34-27 Moose overall.

The Stars of the Game were #1 Magnus Chrona with 32 saves; and #3 Vinnie Hinostroza with 1G 1A. This was the first place Admirals 8th win a row! The Ads are 6-1 on the road.

Last night was Karl Taylor's 800th pro game.

Doesn't seem like there is much of note going on with the Atlanta Gladiators ECHL affiliation...

Last year they started hot and then went totally into the tank. This year it is a more level 3-3-2 start. We only have Hanzel and on an AHL contract Haider down there. I think from the rookie camp there is some organization interest in Armstrong also? Anyway, none of them is distinguishing themselves at the ECHL level, which does not especially bode well?

Oh and if we want the same view for the Ads, we know they are kickin' ass...

My main takeaways thus far are:
  • Wow, Schaefer with 6g
  • Great goaltending (ahem, Wedgewood look out?)
  • A bit surprised Ufko isn't picking up where he left off?

Milwaukee
Milwaukee hosts Chicago tonight at 6 PM.

Milwaukee is 3-0 against the Wolves.

The 7th and last place Wolves have 5 points in 7 GP. The 2nd place Ads have 16 points in 9 GP. First place Grand Rapids has 17 points in 12 GP.

Last season, the Ads were 10-2 vs Chicago.

There are at least 500 fans sitting in the 400 Level, so I expect a big crowd on Veterans Night! Team President Jon Greenberg just announced that 5000 tickets were sold to Veterans, so probably 7500 fans. (The Vets get a discount on up to 6 tickets)

Edit: It was 9234 fans!!!

Matt Murray is in goal. Gravel and Livingstone on D. Lucchini on LW, Hinostroza at C and Schaefer at RW.

The Ads miss a very open looking net 2 minutes into the game. Chicago with a bad line change. They had about TEN on the ice. No call. Brind'Amour interfered with and got his stick up into Kemell's faceshield. No call. Livingstone had problems getting onto the Ads bench. Tired or leg injury? Tired.

Chicago gets the first penalty about 9 minutes into the game, for Slashing. The Ads had 2 SOG and a lot of whiffs on the puck. They are making Perets look good in goal, when he looks shaky (5.00 GAA). Ref Peter "Tarnation" Tarnaris doesn't see Ozzy hooked to the ice from 40 feet away. Suzuki tries to put Angello in a headlock on a face off and gets knocked onto his butt! Suzuki goes straight to the bench. Suzuki was holding Ufko's stick so he could not get a breakaway. No call. Ufko dragged him 30 feet towards the Chicago goal.

Kemell gets 2 minutes for Closing his hand on the puck. That was in the nearest corner and it didn't happen. The "penalty" will carry over for 1:33. SOG were 10-4 Wolves, mostly because the Ads keep missing the net with their shots. No score.

After the Ads killed the penalty, not much happened until a second penalty. That was also killed, then a Wolves player (Brind'Amour) poked at Murray AFTER the whistle. Marino and another Ads player went after him in the SW corner. Then almost everybody was pushing and shoving. Ads get 4 minutes, Wolves get 2 minutes. It was killed off, then Chicago was called for a minor.

#8 for Chicago was just punching Kemell in the back and then cross checked him. No call. Chicago for Too Many Men. I guess 8 is enough? No, it was for Slashing Angello, then skating to the bench. The Ads have terrible passing tonight. The puck floated through the air in the crease and the Ads still don't score! Schaefer was mugged in the neutral zone by Jaaska. Mutter just crushed a guy at the other end. He didn't get up for about 10 seconds. Ads with an Interference penalty. If that was a penalty, Chicago should have been called for five of those by now! The crowd is getting angry at the refs with 4:30 remaining in the period. Ozzy was roughing up somebody in front of the Chicago bench and NO call. My guess is that Ozzy was getting even for things that happened to him in this game.

The refs just missed a Wolves player taking out Kemell's legs! All 4 of the other Ads skaters were chasing him for 2 or 3 laps around the ice! I have never seen that in 60 years of going to hockey games. So 71 and Kemell get 2 minutes each. Karl Taylor is livid! When they came out of the box, Kemell wanted to fight that chicken!

With 31 seconds left in the period, a scrum occurs while Chicago has EIGHT players on the ice to the Ads six. No penalty for Too Many Men. This is absolute Bullshit by refs Peter Tarnaris and Ibrahim Arifi. I expect a brawl in period 3! SOG are 23-12 Chicago.

Period 3 begins 4-on-3 Wolves advantage. A four person collision at the Blue line. Two Ads, 1 Wolves player and a Linesman. Big hits in the first 3 minutes by Milwaukee. Ozzy has thrown 3 of them. He is definitely playing angry! So are some of the other Admirals fowards.

Karl Taylor pointing at the Wolves end and screaming in Tarnaris' face! Morrow, #55, jumps an Ads player LONG after the whistle and 2 other Admirals smashed him into the endboards! No calls. Chicago gets a minor for Elbowing Kemell in the head, and Ozzy (1) scores in seconds! Hinostroza with the assist. Chicago comes down the ice and ties it 8 seconds later on a bad angle shot.

At 9:56, the Wolves get a minor for Boarding? I never heard an announcement. They also did not announce that the penalty was over. No shots on the PP. Schaefer with a reverse hit in the NE corner. Chicago shoots the puck after the whistle, little reaction to that by the Ads. The face off comes out of the Ads zone. 28 hits Kemell in the face with a stick, for the second time in this game. He got 2 minutes.

Schaefer tripped at the offensive blue line and NO CALL. I guess it is okay to trip the puck carrier? Schaefer cross checked in the face the next shift. Ref Arifi makes no call. He is a real piece of work, a gutless wonder!
He was 15 feet away and looking at it.

Chicago scores on a deflection shot with 6.5 seconds left. About a third of the crowd left with me. Chicago got a penalty with 2 seconds left. Probably the usual BS on the face off! Milwaukee lost the offensive zone face off that was a chance to tie the game. SOG were 37-19 Chicago. Game over.

The Admirals 8 game win streak came to an ignominious end. They were out skated and out shot in every period. Milwaukee played hockey for about 10 minutes. Matt Murray deserved better.

There was no flow in the game after the first period. The refs could have called 2 or 3 times as many penalties as they did. Those seem like contradictory statements!

The two refs deserve the death penalty. Too bad that we don't execute in Wisconsin. Maybe they can be sent to the ECHL? They should no longer be working in the AHL!!!

Milwaukee plays at Chicago at 3 PM tomorrow. If #71 is in the line up, expect him to be beaten to a pulp in all three periods. He took out both of Kemell's legs from behind in the neutral zone, then ran like a true coward for the next 45 seconds. That should have been an ejection for Slewfooting With Intent to Injure! He got 2 minutes and Kemell, his victim, got 2 minutes. It was DISGUSTING.

That was #71 LW Gleb Trikozov. In six games, he had ZERO PIMs. He should have had a bunch in this game!!!

Chicago targeted Kemell with a lot of illegal conduct in the whole game. Two can play that game, Chicago Goon Squad.

Don't be surprised if the PIMs hit 200 tomorrow. I would never put up with what I saw tonight. There needs to be retribution, because the refs don't protect the Admirals players at all this season.

Edit: Just to be fair, Soundgarden gave me a thumbs up for the first 6 lines in this post, not all of the rest.

Magnus Chrona is in goal. Gravel and Livingstone on D. Bellows (C) with Kemell (RW) and Weisblatt.

Jack Matier (#51) is playing defense today in place of Luke Prokop (#6). Jack is a faster skater. Both are listed as 6'5" and over 200 pounds.

The Admirals scored first in Chicago!

Bellows (5) scored a PPG at 14:32 of the first period with assists to Weisblatt (4) and Lucchini (6).
The SOG were 18-6 Chicago. Each team was called for one penalty.

The Admirals made the lead stand through the second period, despite 3 penalties on them.
The SOG were 12-8 Chicago. Chrona with 30 saves in the two periods.

In period 3, at 1:18, Reid Schaefer (7) scored on a breakaway on a perfect pass from Kemell (7), although Lucchini (7) and Blankenberg (4) were credited with the assists. A possible Chicago goal just before was waved off and reviewed for about six minutes. It was a No Goal for the Wolves, making it 2-0 Admirals. Kemell (7) replaces Lucchini on the assists via the stadium announcement.

Chicago gets their 5th PP of the game on a Slash by Hinostroza. (Milwaukee has killed off the last 26 penalties, which is impressive!) Chicago scores a PPG that again is being reviewed. Back to video replay! Chrona made the save, then the puck trickled into the goal. The whistle may have sounded. The ref behind the goal, Morgan MacPhee, waived it off immediately, again. This replay lasted about 5 minutes and it is called No Goal, again, with 10:10 remaining. SOG 37-15 so far. Chicago has another 35 seconds of PP time remaining. The Ads kill it off and then Chicago scores at 10:39 of the period, making it 2-1 Milwaukee.

The Ads have iced the puck a few times with 7:32 remaining. Down to 4:51 to play. Chicago is up to 40 SOG to the Ads 16. At 1:25, the Wolves pulled goalie Ruslan Khazheyev. Gunler shoots after the whistle and Admirals players are after him. Blankenburg is down on the ice bleeding behind the Ads net. Bradly Nadeau received 4 minutes for High Sticking. To his credit, Nadeau stayed with Blankenburg during all of the excitement. Nadeau gets the Good Sportsmanship Award.

Milwaukee wins 2-1 in a game that took nearly 3 hours to play. The SOG were 41-16 Chicago. I believe that is the highest total of SOG against the Admirals this season.

Stars of the Game: #1 Chrona with 40 saves; Kieffer Bellows 1G was the #2 Star.

The Admirals are 9-2 this season with 18 points and in first place in the division. Milwaukee is now 4-1 versus Chicago. The Ads host the Moose on Tuesday at 10:30 AM and then host Grand Rapids on Saturday the 16th at 6 PM. Those will be the 4th and 5th home games of the season.

Milwaukee doesn't play the Wolves until December 18th. Woo-hoo!!!

So 11 games into the season Schaefer has already matched his goal production for 63 games last season. Massive uptick. Will likely slow down at some point but he is on pace to blow past his point production from last season by the middle of this season.

Kemell and Svechkov also on pace to pass their AHL production highs.

Ozzy isnt producing as much as those 3 but he has also had year over year improvement. He is goin at about 0.5 ppg.

Teams seem to key on Ozzy and Kemell.
They get bounced around to slow them down.

That helps Schaefer and Hinostroza run wild. I am waiting for Svech to really take off. He could pile up 100 points.
