I know we've all been clamoring for this but it's still a shock. Really thought DW was too stubborn and prideful to admit Murray isn't what he used to be but now it seems like Murray was played to up his value like some of us thought. This trade gives me hope that DW isn't totally blind and willing to trade players for picks instead of giving away picks every year for rentals.

Sounds like more trades are brewing. This market is ridiculous enough that teams could be bidding for Clowe after losing out on Iginla.

With #Sharks moving Murray off the back end look for SJ to soon extend pending UFA D Matt Irwin to a multi year deal.

Lost in the SW!
Great move for DW and the Sharks. We have a surplus of NHL defense man and i'm glad we got this much for him, i was thinking a 2nd would have been nice.. 2 2nds is great as we need the prospects. I would have rather had a depth forward that can score, i'd guess the Pens/other NHL teams were not making them available.

I think this gets Burns back on D or Demers in the line up, either way we're younger and quicker as a result at that position. I like this deal!

FYI, Wilson stated that the Sharks will not be looking to pick up a veteran "rental" player.

Still wants to make the playoffs this year.

Don't think this was posted anywhere but its basically Dan Rusanowsky talking about the trade and Doug Wilson talking about why he made the trade and all. Glad to hear he doesn't plan on giving up any of our early picks to try and make a big push for the playoffs but also said this trade doesn't mean that they're going to be big sellers and rebuild he says they want to "refresh". At 6:58 he pretty much calls out Clowe without mentioning his name saying that he's not playing his best. Gotta think he plans on trading Clowe and as much as I like him I hope he does.

To be honest, I like his plan. Rebuilding for 3 or 4 years is not what we need to do. I say if we can trade Clowe, for a young top six forward or even a solid 3rd liner and maybe a 1st round pick or something, build around that, Pavelski, Couture, Marleau, Thornton, etc. I really don't think rebuilding is the right way to go yet.

As for the Murray trade I think it was a good deal for both sides, don't think anybody really won unless you consider the Pens beefing up for a cup run winning this deal. Surprised we got what we did out of Murray though but I'm sad to see him go as he will be missed, just glad he went to a cup contender. Our PK will definitely take a hit losing him, especially our 5 on 3. Oh well, thanks Murray!

Definitely the best part about this is that DW is not interested in trading young assets for older scorers to fix the offense, and that he's not looking at rentals.

Thank god, but you have to wonder if he's been told not to do so as well. When Wilson starts throwing around "We don't like to call it a rebuild" it sounds like "Yah, we are going to rebuild, but lets call it something nicer".

If they wanna spin it in a way that doesn't stop people from buying tickets, I don't really care.

Anyway, we should start speculating on who we want with 60th overall. Now that we have another 2nd rounder, I think we should take a chance on Nic Petan in the 30's-40's with our own second.

So the goal is to make the playoffs, not to win the Cup. Good thing he is realistic.

PLEASE TRADE BURISH NEXT.

Well as long as Jumbo/Marleau are still here, they can claim to not be rebuilding. So they can keep those two to keep butts in the seats while trimming the fat by trading away Boyle, Clowe, Havlat, Pavs, etc for draft picks.

Rangers fans told me Boyle is old and cant skate anymore. Clearly they know something we don't.

Boyle for a conditional 7th.

At this point I am fully hoping we lose the next 5 games in awful fashion so that Doug does the necessary actions in blowing up the team.
