Awesome, but I hope Doughty realizes Maroon's got 14 points on the year. More than any of our 'fourth' liners.

Doughty is an idiot for saying that ****, and its on NHL Revealed, no wonder fan bases of other teams are beginning to hate the Kings. Jesus H. Christ. Totally classless, and I love Doughty (as a player, not as a diplomat, for sure).

No, that is not captain material, for those of you who are calling for him to wear the C.

No, Doughty is a hockey player for saying that. If that upsets you, you'd probably have to go dunk yourself in holy water if you listened to an entire game uncensored...

I'm willing to bet maroon did something to warrent it. Could have been another game or something. Chirping is part of the game. I wish we heard more of it.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was something that went back to junior. 07-08, Maroon led London in scoring, and Doughty was on Guelph, same division, and they played in the playoffs. I'm guessing they probably played against each other a lot in that series.

No problem with it. Chirping is chirping, everyone does it.

Oh, please.

Chirping is part of hockey, no need to get all bent out of shape about it. This isn't curling. And other fans are going to hate us no matter what.

I'm not shocked by chirpping. I know it can get really ugly too.

I guess it surprised me on the level of attacking a players career path. It just had not occurred to me that players do that. Naive I guess, but for some reason it seemed more absurd than talking about a spouse. Spouse I would expect somehow if that makes sense.

Anyway, not a big deal but not something I would do. Mostly never had a quick enough wit to chirp in my own games. I sound like Voynov,

ffffffffffff you aahhhh oh he's gone, dope.

I remember one of the Coyotes chirping Richardson back when we won the cup. It was the same making fun of what line he played on and the guy pretended to not even know who he was. I bet that hierarchy stuff happens all the time.

Oh no Doughty's reputation is ruined. Cause that's how you win championships, by reputation.

I've heard worse when I played girls basketball in middle school.

That's too bad. When I was umpiring little league in the late 1970s, I never heard any of this.

I also didn't see it when my son was in Little League, just a few years ago. I guess things are different in your area of the country, wherever that is.

You can think of this guy:

That wasn't too cool either, no respect for the guy, but still it was funny as ****.

Absolutely, especially when there's so much status/ego involved.. You see it in the Doughty clip, you see it in the Matt Martin clip above, you see it when Avery called Clarkson a career minor leaguer (paraphrasing on memory, but oh, the irony).

I guess everyone has their touch points but I'd certainly be more set off by someone talking **** about my wife than my career. That's why it surprises me that this PG-13 moment gets focused on.

Lol. Way worse things have been said and are said every game. I doubt Maroon is losing sleep over it. He's actually coming into form as a useful NHL player now so its kind of ironic.

I heard someone post about this earlier and was looking for a vid/audio, thanks OP and Reclamation Project.

You're all ****ing soft if you had a problem with what Doughty said. Go watch soccer.

Didn't he score in that game as well?

Best revenge, really. You just get to smile at the guy that said it.

No thanks, Dad. I'll watch hockey.

Personally, don't actually have a problem with what he said, although a number of posters above seem to think that's what I wrote. I think its immature and stupid of him to say it: that's the point I was trying to get across.

But thank you anyway for your condescending tone. It's making this all the more fun.

You think it was stupid he said it and classless on his part but you don't have a problem with what he said? I don't understand what you are trying to distinguish here.

being mad at trash talk is a whole new level of what

You must getting super furious when Quick tosses the puck after making a save

Jesus, this thread is coming from a fan base that had to deal with Sean Avery on their team.

You're lucky you didn't get too hear all the **** he said both on the ice and off the ice.

Doughty is no saint, but trash talking is part of the sport, and if you're offended by it or are just now getting introduced to it, then clearly you've never played it.

Time to take a step out beyond your bubble of internet forums, 9-5's, and rush hour traffic - it's a great big world out there.
