Didnt watch the game but glad we got the win. Watched the hit from Rempe. If he was 3 inches shorter, no one cares about the hit. 2 minute boarding minor. Heiskanen milked it in a game he knew was lost.

If he were 3 inches shorter....

He drives his elbow into Heikanen's upper back and it's still a boarding major.

This was a bad hit and not the type of his where you can use his height as an excuse. Theres a very big difference between more borderline plays (the Bastian hit last year where he received a major that I don't agree with since him being huge did play a role there and the Lybushkin one where he went unpenalized altogether) and this one.

On Lindgren being hit like that...

This was also called a major and should have been. Bad hits are bad hits.

Rempe has been tossed 4 times in 24 games now - 2 deserved, 1 not and 1 was a technicality. When that happens, people take notice. I think the refs were a bit too quick to call him on shit during the playoffs last year but lets not act like his actions aren't mostly responsible for that. If he brought other things to the table? People would care less (See: Ovechkin, Pasternak, etc.)

2 minutes. Didnt leave his feet. Rempe is graded on a different curve than the rest of the league.

As for the video, pasta has always been a dirty player and left his feet as you can see in the thumbnail. Tkachuk smashed his teeth in for a reason when they fought in the playoffs.

If Tom Wilson did this to end the game, which he has many times, it means nothing. Because it’s Rempe the refs need to make a show of it.

I'm going to be really honest and just say this. You don't get it.A lot of you don't get it. IT DOESN'T f***ING MATTER !!! The kid is the 1st 2nd and 3rd star of tonights game. These f***ing prima donna's got a wake up call by a kid that gives a shit. It's that f***ing simple.
He still sucks and could have easily cost the game. There’s not enough positive he can do in 5 minutes to make up for the 5 min shorthanded late in a close game. What a clown

BUT don't you think winning matters more ? The only reason we beat a good team tonight when we've been losing to some of the worst teams in the league is because this kid shows up and gives a shit and SOMEHOW that made a difference to the these prima donnas who've been playing like they just don't care. .
We won because Igor was great, now because man-child played 5 min and made us play shorthanded almost as much as he played

Can someone reach out to Brian Boyle? He would be the perfect person to teach Rempe how to play along the boards without taking major penalties while being physically. I think Rempe learning from someone close to his size might benefit him.

Or he can just stop hitting guys square in the back at full speed when they are facing the boards.it's not really rocket science

I been posting ad nauseam that Rempe needs to be in Hartford. He is not ready.
As soon as his upcoming suspension is over he needs to go back there.
Organization should not rush a 22 year old’s development.
If he stays up with the Rangers he will be the target of every Referee.

Here's the issue I have with this. For several weeks now we've been watching lifeless I don't give a shit hockey and it's pretty much unwatchable to me. If we have a pulse with this guy in the lineup and don't when he's not in the lineup I'm not sending him down. I'll live with whatever including other teams winning games in part because he took a penalty. Would you rather have an $8.5 mil player on a verge of a nervous break down making soft play after soft play and losing us games that way? or night after night getting outshot heavily with players running around their own zone aimlessly----the bad pinches, the falling asleep plays? At least Rempe's hit last night bad as it might be was an act of commission. I think we can say that he wants to play. I'm not so sure about some of our veterans. The team hasn't been playing angry. It's been playing sorry for ourselves.

Onus falls on three people. First is on Remp; he must know that hit was way over the line.
Drury, a desperate move by a desperate GM. All to give a lifeless team some jump.
Third, Laviolette, Matt was having the game of his career, drawing three penalties, couple of breakaways, good passing, good hitting (until that hit) and good defending and yet his coach had him at 5:00 of ice time going into the third. Maybe he felt like he had to do even more to empress his coach?
Couldn’t agree more with @GoAwayPanarin, if Rempe could score many, of his pass transgressions would have been ignored. That was the whole point of leaving him in Hartford to develop. Cannot recall one incident up there where he crossed the line this season.

Rempe effect lives on, I like the energy he brings and the fear he can put into dmen. However he needs to stop landing on the numbers, I thought he was gonna get dinged earlier than that honestly. But it still remains to me that he has a way of lightening the mood around the room and adds physicality to a non physical team, keep him up but make him figure out how to hit without following the player directly, he had a great game before the penalty in a much needed way, teams don't know what to do with him, draws three penalties because of it

Yup....he could be a valuable bottom6 piece for the club . Does he need more prep work...oh yeah ! This is what I was kind of mentioning the other day about specific player coaching ...more 1 on 1 stuff away from regular team practice . He needs a lot of work in the hitting/bodychecking lesson plan . They easily enough for a couple of hundred? grand could find somebody that can work with the kid . He does stuff that helps our club but he cannot do that stupid stuff . Maybe a guy like Beukeboom ?

This game was not Rempe effect. The team has started the turnaround in terms of bringing energy even the game before. Return of Panarin and insane goaltending from Shesterkin were the new ingredients that got the win.

I agree, it was good that he was brought up and he had a good game...

...until he flushed it all down with his major. He has been extremely lucky that IIRC the Rangers have always been able to win despite those majors, because if not, the discourse around here would be totally different.

How many minutes would Edstrom have played before Rempe was ejected ? Anyone know if he got much more ? Somebody brought up the coach just giving Rempe limited minutes.....so I was just wondering if it was the whole line or just Rempe that was limited ?

I'll be glad when we can roll Roobrouck? out on that 4th line .

I said it the last time Rempe got kicked out, but he has to learn there's a target on his back. He's going to be treated differently because of his past transgressions. He won't be given the benefit of the doubt. Once you have a reputation as a guy who can't play within the rules it's really hard to shake and he has to be extremely careful, even if it means changing his game and doing less of what he's otherwise good at.

He's not going to stick if he gets a major and ejection every five games, whether or not you think the calls are correct.

Sean Avery went through a similar thing. He was under the microscope. He tried to adjust but couldn't--he was either "on" or "off" and when he was off he was just not effective at anything. He never learned to play on the line without going over it.

The long term Rempe effect can be debated all day long but for this 1 game the team seemed ready to play. An ultradead soft team had a heartbeat. I think Rempe was part of that. Having a Dman being more physical didn't hurt either.

It doesn’t matter that he didn’t leave his feet. He sees his numbers all the way and extends his arm which resulted in the player going face first into the glass with notable force. That’s a boarding major every time.

And I get that there are other dirty players in the league but you know who else may be dirty? The guy who had been tossed in almost 20% of the regular season games he’s played. Let’s just call it what it is.

Tom Wilson would have been ejected and suspended for this as I expect Rempe will be.
