Sean Avery went through a similar thing. He was under the microscope. He tried to adjust but couldn't--he was either "on" or "off" and when he was off he was just not effective at anything. He never learned to play on the line without going over it.

I love Avery but he was also a shameless diver and rat in general. Let’s be honest.

Oh yeah absolutely. Avery was a pest and an agitator, not a guy that threw big and often dangerous hits. I just meant that he, like Rempe, was always under scrutiny, and he didn't particularly deal well with the scrutiny. He'd go out and stop doing "Avery stuff" and then he was ineffective, but when he did Avery stuff he's just getting called for endless penalties. He didn't find the sweet spot.

How many minutes would Edstrom have played before Rempe was ejected ? Anyone know if he got much more ? Somebody brought up the coach just giving Rempe limited minutes.....so I was just wondering if it was the whole line or just Rempe that was limited ?

This game was not Rempe effect. The team has started the turnaround in terms of bringing energy even the game before. Return of Panarin and insane goaltending from Shesterkin were the new ingredients that got the win.

People are brushing it off because we weren't punished, but imagine: This team is on its worst skid in many, many years. We're desperate for a win any way we can take it, or really anything positive that might maybe begin to right the ship at a point when it might not even be possible. We're late in the third with a one-goal lead, barely holding on against one of the best teams in the league, getting shelled at times. Then Rempe takes a patented major with a semi-late hit, right in the numbers, gets his elbow up high, crushing one of the league's better players into the boards face-first. Dallas scores two. Rangers lose in regulation. A desperately needed win becomes the latest edition in a terrible season of finding novel ways to lose. Another dagger. People would want Rempe buried under Hartford.

That almost happened, it probably even should have happened, but we got lucky for the first time in a while and were let off the hook.

Wasn't pretty, but any win is a moral victory — doing it against one of the top teams out west gives it a different feel than the win against the Sabres.

Yeah on the video his entire forearm contacts the glass which tells me it's likely his elbow was what actually made contact and it slides off with the contact. He also has the skates pointed right at the player; he might not be taking strides towards him but I'm not sure how much he's slowing down, LOL.

I understand that some people might view that hit as okay, somehow, but I don't think the video makes the case. I mean the NHL reviewed the video and landed where they did so at minimum the video is not going to help him in front of the DoPS. I know that's because they have it out for him or whatever, but still...

And it has been the same case with earlier Rempe majors too, we ended up winning those games. People shurg these majors under the carpet because they haven't contributed to losing games. But this is just luck, it's not sustainable.

Yep. About 30 percent of the game on the pk. Officials were, at best, incompetent… I guess that’s how it goes for a team in a huge slump. But that was absolutely a scheduled loss and NYR stole it. Let’s see if they can build on it.

Rempe sees the numbers all the way, and still drives Heiskanen to the boards with his elbow up and riding Heiskanen's neck.

That is a major every day of the week, regardless of who delivers that hit. Just an unbelievable disregard to the opponents' health by Rempe there.

Lindgren gets hit like that once a week and no one gets ejected. My only issue with the hit is that he saw the numbers the whole way. 2 minutes.

All the pearl clutchers are going to get what they want when he's suspended so idk what the problem is

That's a 100% clear cut elbow, high hit to the head AND boarding. 5 min major + suspension, no matter who throws that hit. lmao
