Why?

Since the Leafs has by far the largest fan base in the NHL which makes them the largest revenue generator in the league why would the NHL actively try to hurt the one team that brings much more revenue then any other team? Probably more then the last 6 revenue teams combined.

This line of thought does not make sense to me.

yeah and when the Jays or Raps are in the playoffs they automatically become pro Toronto

Didn't watch this game because knew they would lose. After watching last game:
1) Leafs look tired.
2) Jets defense is well organized. They played solid road game. Leafs have problems with well organized teams. Always. Keefe may be better coach than Health and Physical education teacher Babcock, but... Leafs do not look well organized. Neither offensively, nor defensively. There are skilled players but no pro team play.
3) Andersen and Rielly are weakest links. Replacing them with better players would help. And a young top-6 power forward is needed. That's the minimum for a long playoff run.

Goaltending has been unacceptable lately

Correction, team defence has been unacceptable lately. Very few goalies consistently stop tips, two on one one timers, cross crease passes. the ones that do are in talk for the Veznia.

I guess that article a few weeks back about the Leafs now have an identity, team defence, was full of s#it... Dermott two glaring mistakes, in the net, PP for the Jets, in the net, tip's, tip's ,tip/sand more tips, in the net ... it pretty apparent big teams give the Leafs fits ... we can't handle them, we can't play with them, we can't beat them... How to beat the Leafs in 2 steps, 1) Clog up the neutral zone, 2) play big or be big.

So if Andersen isnt THE Guy. Who Is? Dubas and Keefe dont seem to think hes the problem. Just a bunch of HF coaches and GM's know who seems to be THEE Guy
Dubas attempting to sign Lehner and Markstrom last fall seems to indicate that Andersen isn’t the guy nor do they have much confidence in him. If Campbell wasn’t injured, there would be no way we would see Andersen as often as we have this season. Keefe doesn’t have much of a choice right now.

It takes an incredible amount of mental gymnastics to convince yourself that Andersen and his .899 SV% have been good enough.

Can't blame Fred on this one. Everyone not wearing a Jets uniform out there sucked. Even the 4 with the black and white jerseys.
But going into the third last night I thought to myself, we need 2 because you know Fred isn't going to slam the door.

I think it's about time to go with the Win and you're In strategy.
Or ride Soupy for a bit and see what he can provide on a more permanent basis. We kinda need to know for next season.

I’m curious to know what you think is the problem?

There's been a transition on the Leafs. Couple years ago it wasn't unusual for Freddy to be the best goalie in the game. A couple years ago the forward depth was stronger than the blue line depth. Now Freddie and fourth line have disappeared. The blue line is fairly strong ( except for Dermott who is very inconsistent).

Toronto has to be a tough city to play in. The fans are over the top and the media is cutthroat. IN many ways the best thing to happen to Freddy is covid. If the boo birds were at the games I think Freddy would have cracked earlier. Campbell needs to get healthy, or Dubas needs to find a goalie at the deadline. Finding a goalie at the deadline can't be easy. It will likely wait until the offseason and it becomes another season wasted.

Despite a more well rounded team if you can't stop the puck you won't win the playoffs. One of three things need to happen. Freddy needs to wake up and play. Campbell needs to get healthy and play. Dubas needs to find a goalie at the deadline. I think the second option is our best chance at going far in the playoffs.

Keefe basically begged Dubas to make a move in the post game interview

subtle but it was there

"we dont have any flexibility to make any roster changes for tomorrow"
I don't like that one bit. It sounds a lot like Babcock.

Bad game from the top down.

Keefe, forwards, defense and goalie all not good enough. Don't let this turn into a skid boys. By far the worst effort of our recent losses.

Woke up this morning, looked at the standing, checked this week's games and saw who the jets are playing next couple of games: time to jump in a very very hot shower.

And I hate hot showers
