I’d say UP TO 4 years but no 5th year.
Realistically 5 years from now is likely the 1st time cap could possibly become and issue. It’s also the last year the hawks are paying Jones.

This year, next year and year after the team will be ELC heavy. Likely 3 to 5 ELC’s still in effect during year 4.

So Robby Fabbri of the Ducks is in year 3 of 3 with a 4M per year contract. He was taken the same year as Donoto in the first round (21) 35 picks ahead of RD. Has almost identical stats i.e. games played , goals,assists, points.
Donato's contract most likely will be in the range of 4.5 - 5.5 for 3 years.

Which some Hawks fans underestimate the value of ... as well the value of Donato fighting for every inch of ice, and getting the puck to the blue paint at all costs. Young players see what it takes to play in this league.

Lots of guys would never get traded if the locker room made the decisions.

Fact is, Donato can walk in a few months and the Blackhawks get nothing. Work on an extension up until the deadline- sure, but when 3pm draws near and you don't have a deal in place, you have lost your control over the situation, and I think it's irresponsible management to not take the best offer available on the trade market

It ultimately isn't worth throwing a tantrum over, but it's a disappointing outcome

Not trading Donato for even a 2nd is frustrating. And it’s going to be even more frustrating when he starts throwing away 2nds at the draft like penny candy to move up a couple spots in the first round.

My main gripe as well. Yes we don’t need 10 second rounders a draft anymore but we are at the point where the team should be using them to move up. The Toronto first isn’t going to be great if they avoid matching up with Tampa/Florida in round 1 and face a weak team instead.

That Toronto pick plus the seconds could have been used to move up to get a much better pick. Perhaps even in the top 10

It’s not that they are different, it’s that they are contradictory and negative no matter what happens.

There is absolutely no pleasing some of these people. It’s no surprise really considering some wanted to blow it up after 2012.

They have no patience, no foresight, no ability to plan, no logic, no reasoning. They have no knowledge of what actually happened or will happen and bitch about that too as if it’s already happened just so they can bitch more if it does happen. They exaggerate and misrepresent to suit their ability to bitch.

It’s just bitching to bitch. That’s his point. He said it in the first sentence.

I’m all for reading different opinions. This forum would be boring without that. That’s not the issue. The bitching is annoying and brings no value at all. It’s like talking to a person in your day to day life who constantly makes shit up and lies to you so they can bitch about their life more. Eventually the insult to your intelligence isn’t worth your time.

That penny candy looks very useful , it grabbed us Vanacker and Boisvert . Both guys are exactly what this team needs in the future grit/talent .
