I have posted WHY I have a problem with tony D.. but here is my thing. I believe in rehabilitation over retribution. Has Tony actually stepped up and admitted some of the stuff he did was shit or is he going the Mitch Miller approach and not doing anything to address what he said and did? Just curious. I am a pitch fork guy, but I will put my pitch fork away if someone admitts they have screwed up and address their issues
A big issue he had with previous employers was starting public fights on Twitter, and here he is starting a fight on Twitter, so there's that.
It depends on what you mean by “address what he said and did”. The last negative news he made was in early 2021 (the fight and political tweets). Since then he’s just been an ordinary pro hockey player, minding his business.
I'm totally lost on the dunking on DeAngelo thing? So I looked at his history, he said something very inappropriate stuff when he was 17 or 18? Is this something that deserves a lifetime ban?
And then he punched Georgiev after playing poorly and saying something to him? Avs fans would probably buy out his jersey if that happened today
And without going there, he supports a political party 70%? of NHLers do but is vocal about it? Is there more I'm missing? Honeslty everything negative I'm reading is just mentioning what he said as a 17 year old or reddit calling him scum for supporting Trump, is there more to this?
This Dom dude is an absolute joke in this situation but TDA man you gotta know when there is a golden opportunity to take the high road and be better for it
He publicly denied COVID while playing for the Rangers. That was probably the main impetus, with the fight being the last straw. You represent your employers and you can't say certain things. That's anywhere.I'm totally lost on the dunking on DeAngelo thing? So I looked at his history, he said something very inappropriate stuff when he was 17 or 18? In the last 8-10 years the word “problematic” has become closely associated with what might be termed Cancel Culture. It’s gained a strong connotation of describing behavior or statements that violate more “progressive” norms or values.I don’t know how old you are, but “problematic” has been around for a long time without seemingly any controversy.
Or are we in the business of hating on multisyllabic words because they sound too complicated?
In the last 8-10 years the word “problematic” has become closely associated with what might be termed Cancel Culture. It’s gained a strong connotation of describing behavior or statements that violate more “progressive” norms or values.
E.g.,
“The kicker’s problematic remarks about the role of women sparked protest”
“The hockey player will have to answer for his problematic tweets in high school”
Georgiev punched him
Did I say I hated it? Words have different connotations depending on context. No one would apply the meaning I described to the example you gave about a faulty exhaust system.Problematic is a very useful word to use in all kinds of contexts.
"The exhaust system in his Dodge Charger was problematic."
What a dumb reason to hate a word.

Backstory: Dom and TDA got into a back-and-forth about analytics versus the eye test. Dom was invited to join TDA on a podcast to debate face to face. Dom, high on the fumes of dunking on someone he hates, accepted the invitation. Then he found out that if you meet with someone publicly to humiliate them, then you aren’t cancelling them enough. So he walked back his attempt to embarrass a cancelled person by publicly re-cancelling him and refusing to even be physically present with him in the name of fighting intolerance (making a bunch of Twitter posts and a press release to dunk on him is still ok though).
Short version: two awful people being awful on the internet and ironically not seeing their similarities
We can pinpoint what he has done!Absolutely. But you’d have to be able to expand on what exactly makes the exhaust system in the Charger problematic, and explain the impact. Are they prone to leaks or blockages that reduce the efficiency of the engine causing you to burn more gas than you otherwise should?
They way people use “problematic” in terms of referring to other people is problematic because they fail to explain what makes them problematic.
It’s become a “I can’t exactly pinpoint or explain anything terrible this person has said or done so I’ll use a vague catchall phrase to imply that I don’t like their very being”.
