I don’t know how old you are, but “problematic” has been around for a long time without seemingly any controversy.

Or are we in the business of hating on multisyllabic words because they sound too complicated?
Nobody thinks the word “problematic” is too complicated.

It absolutely has become a buzzword to describe anyone who has ever said anything remotely controversial. The people that use it are the softest people alive and have ruined social media (like Dom).

This Dom dude is an absolute joke in this situation but TDA man you gotta know when there is a golden opportunity to take the high road and be better for it
Nah, TDA just gained points here for making Dom look like a fool. He did well.

Soft people like Dom shouldn’t have a following online. I cannot imagine living my life based on the opinions of idiots on Twitter, but evidently there are people that do that. Most pathetic thing I’ve ever seen. Having a backbone doesn’t seem to exist much anymore.

Nah it’s him, he was going back and forth with Tim Peel last month and then ended up getting invited on and going on Peel’s podcast

Why on God's green earth does Tim f*ckin' Peel have a podcast? How is the worst referee in the league during his career who also got exposed for his own corruption popular enough to have a post-career podcast?

IIRC it later leaked through teammates that it was a slur for an Italian
According to this the slurs were directed at teammate Daniel Nikandrov, who is Jewish.

When the Hurricanes first signed DeAngelo in 2021, a long time poster on the Hurricanes board (who linked the artucle) claimed he heard the specific slurs were 'k*ke' and 'I'm going to rip your Jew nose off'

The day Biden became president elect, he tweeted "what happened to COVID-19" in response to what he perceived as a shifting narrative, after it was in the news constantly running up to the election.

Seems like sarcasm to me.

I'm not trying to defend him, just genuinely curious how stupid he actually was in that timeframe.
This was in reference to a right wing belief at the time that the media was covering the pandemic in an effort to tank Trump's 2020 re-election bid. Hence, if Biden won, the media would stop covering covid.

I agree 100%, its like there are say 100 issues, we agree completely on 95 yet will argue all the time about the other 5. But in a weird way the political division is a symptom of a stable society, we have nothing else bigger to focus on. Its why I say any nation hostile to the US would be an idiot to attack them now. You have these 2 sides all revved up, ready to take each other on in some sort of societal cold war that would end up joining and turning their focus to said attacker like the eye of Sauron lol
I disagree with the bolded in particular, in that I have a couple of ~20 year friends who have recently decided to stop talking with people who…had a difference in opinion back in November. Been through thick and thin with them, but their media told them they needed to stop talking to those who had a differing viewpoint.

That is anything but a symptom of a stable society.

Sums up the state of the analytics v eye-test in 2024. One guy probably can't hold more than 1 thought in his head at a time, the other can't even have the conversation unless it is deemed 100% virtuous by everyone that already agrees with him.

Quick recap for me please:

What has TDA done or said that is so outrageous.

Legit question, as I know nothing about him really.

In theory, it would be a nice signal if 2 folks that are on complete opposite sides of the political spectrum could jump on together and just argue hockey. In practice, with these 2, it would have been a complete gong show.

Dom is soft as Charmin in focusing on winning the continued admiration of his in-group than winning an argument, but I am sure we’re all better off for Dom turtling this one.

It's a good question.

I recall him being a vocal far right wing guy, using far right wing language. Also a guy who has reportedly been in a scuffle in the dressing room.

If that's the case, I'm not sure why they can't have a dialogue about hockey without it becoming politicized.

so weak- bullied into apologizing for scheduling a conversation with someone with opposing views

grats on dunking on yourself dom

It's 2024, and it's highly inappropriate to talk to people with views different from yours. If they cannot be outright banned or incarcerated, you at least need to label them contemptuously, or better yet, pretend they don't even exist. You gotta keep strictly to your own opinion bubble, and you're gonna reap lots of praise for being a good boy that way. Especially if your own bubble happens to hold the media clout.

I just realized that if my main source of information is the main stream media, I’ll always know the truth.

That aspect is for sure unsettling but some people are going to need more time to break through their cognitive dissonance. For people that truly still believe MSM, they've been under essentially a psy op for the last 8yrs+. that's going to be a tough journey for those people.
To come to terms with the fact that the people you were told were evil etc, were right all along and it was in fact the side you trusted that was lying the whole time may just be too much for some.

I can’t wait to see how Dom segues this into how smart he is for inventing a computer program that says Matt Nieto should be a Hart finalist.
