Does Edmonton have the best broadcast team?

jack michaels can definitely be obnoxious at times. Gene is the best part of watching Oilers broadcasts though

It’s so strange that their are only two groups of people on polar opposite sides when it comes to this broadcast team, almost makes it seem like we’re listening to two different broadcast.

That’s opinions though I guess.

I like Debrusk, Singh, and Gene. I think Jack is annoying.

Bob Stauffer is also very annoying during the intermissions too, but whenever I see him I laugh cause when he's waiting for his turn to talk, he looks like a mean drunk mumbling to himself and he could start shouting obscenities to nobody in particular at any time. He also looks very uncomfortable sitting down in a suit

Thoroughly enjoying following the Oilers this year, as someone cheering for them it’s awesome watching their games for more than just the on-ice product.

Commentary is always insightful, quirky, light and fun.

What I think really separates them from the rest of the league is knowing when to be homers and when not to be.

When it’s an Edmonton goal or big hit, they come alive, however if it’s a fight or a penalty their more analytical side comes out and they are more neutral.

I catch a lot of games and always enjoy their broadcast. When they play the Senators I always watch their broadcast, even though I like ours too.

Love Michaels and Debrusk. Delight to listen to.

It's funny hearing Oiler fans slagging Jack Michaels.

Last spring when the broadcasters were announced for the playoffs there was a big thread whining about how we were getting screwed over by not having Jack do the games.

It was quite comical.

Saw the title and assumed this was a joke thread but it appears it is actually serious which is insane.

I haven't heard all the crews out there but hard to imagine there is a worst broadcast crew out there than these homers. Michaels isn't just awful in the way he calls a game but is as bad as homer as there is out there. Louie was great when he started but now has turned into such a homer it is sad to listen to him. And Gene Principe is a clown that isn't funny and the biggest loser in sports broadcasting. The panelists they have in between periods in Stauffer and Spector add to the homer clown show as well.

How anyone can say that crew aren't complete jack ass homers is beyond me. All Gene does is ask other player how lucky they are that they get to skate on the same ice as the Great Connor McDavid. The fact he is more professional when bouncing around in a banana suit than doing an interview says it all with that piece of shit.

I'm an Oilers fan and I love them. They make it fun and keep it lighthearted. Nobody gets fired up like Jack Michaels. Guy is an absolute legend and make it more enjoyable. Would be nice if there was someone who could provide more in-depth analysis in place of Debrusk but it's not a big deal.

Overall, they're quite good, if not great.

Louie Debrusk was just okay about five years ago, but now he's really, really good. I give him a lot of credit for putting in the effort to really improve his skills as a broadcaster. He's doing an excellent job (despite his endlessly-repeated Debrusk-isms: "shooter mentality"... "goes to work"... "Yer right, Jack...").

Jack Michaels... at first, I couldn't stand him (carnival barker approach, sometimes over the top hambone), but with time, you realize he's a really solid guy who knows his stuff and is very fair to players and to all teams. Despite his loud voice, he's always polite and humble. His style will never be to my taste, but I have warmed to him quite a bit, even if he's still a bit much at times.

My only 'content' issue with Jack Michaels is his ridiculous habit of bringing up 80s' action movie / hard rock references... and then doubling down on them and awkwardly forcing Louie to comment on them. Let it go, Jack. Let it go.

I like Louis Debrusk a lot but the rest are nauseating to listen to. Especially when you also factor in Dumb and Dumber, Spector and Principe.

If you like nails on a chalkboard which is Jack Michaels, then you are absolutely right in every way possible.

Nah it's John and John in Vancouver who are the best.

I really like Jack and Louie. Then again I grew up listening to Jim Ross and loved every minute of it, so maybe that's why? Brings excitement to the game for me.

JR called wrestling, where that kind of talk is what is wanted. In hockey you don't need to be screaming nonsense all night long. None of the great hockey commentators called games like this and there is a reason for it.
