Okay, its been 2 games and Marner is playing in the top 6. By this logic Guentzel is 4x better than Marner

Why would the amount of games matter? You either win the series or you don't

Isn't he? He's producing more so he's playing better. I'd take Guentzel stats over Marner's this tournament - wouldn't you?

Sure, and the Leafs won the last series - Tampa fans haven't let it go.

I'd also argue hockey is faster on the smaller ice. Big ice has never, to me, meant faster hockey or more scoring. As I've aged, I actually prefer the smaller ice and hope everyone adopts the smaller rinks.
We used to have smaller than regulation sized ice in some of the older arenas like Boston Garden and Memorial Auditorium. That was even better. More hitting and less room to avoid each other

I don’t understand why people aren’t understanding that the Tkachuk brothers are only having the impact they’re having because they’re following the example of a true blood and guts warrior in Austin Matthews. If it was t for his example of finding a higher and higher compete level in bigger games, they wouldn’t know how to do it.

This ultra competitiveness comes a lot more naturally to Matthews than it does to The Tkachuk’s.

Barely heard their names after their fights until they started talking about Matthew getting hurt. 0 points and one of them couldn't even finish the game, so I dunno, not the biggest problem this time around.
They only played 11 and 12 minutes. Set the tone early for sure, but were mostly a non factor tonight.

Answer to what exactly? They were barely noticeable outside of the first 9 seconds and one of them couldn't even hold himself together in the very game he tried to up the physicality in.

You’re in denial, they set the tone for the whole team (the whole game really) with their ferocious forechecking and energy. Not to mention all the points I lost count of against Sweden

That was nearly all gone after the first 10 minutes though. After the first period the game just turned into a normal tight checking clog the neutral zone hockey game.

That’s all it takes. It countered the energy in the stadium which could’ve proved overwhelming. They led the Calvary charge against a much larger force.

When they got out of the box they led the way in forechecking and making it tougher for Canada to get out of their own end and into the o-zone, too, imo.

From what I saw and what the stats seem to suggest say otherwise but ok.

The us played fantastic defensively but Canada wasn't stifled by any means. They were more dangerous offensively than the US overall.

Brady was hammering guys all night, we can talk about whatever injury probably groin in the spin-o-Rama attempt befell Matthew. But that start was big and guys bailing on Brady in the area was seen at times and that was kind of the point. I actually think McAvoy’s hit on McDavid was probably the biggest impactful one, but it was clear from the onset we aren’t giving you an inch.

Also you are free to have your take on it. But the guys in the USA room talked about it a lot post-game, it seemed to matter to them which means a lot more than random internet posters.

Team USA wanted it more last night. Cooper failed to adjust his lineup and kept throwing his favourite Tampa boys out there while Bennett and Marchand only got the odd shift here and there. Bennett was creating space every time he was on the ice yet he couldn't get more than 7 mins total ice time

And his name, is John Cena Tom Wilson!

*drops Tom out of a plane to provide the king of all flying elbows, just straight through the roof into a Tkachuk’s dome*.

Seriously though, shouldn’t have left him off, in hindsight.

Um I have nearly 10,000 posts on HFBoards thank you. I think my opinion holds a little more credibility than a handful of players who have probably never posted on HF...
