Doc and John Davidson was the best announcing team I ever heard - in ALL sports.
The 1996 World Cup was their best work.

"broten, it's over!!!"
That was a great package done by NBC.
(though I would've liked for them to show the Devils raising the Cup in any of their 3 championship runs which they didn't...but that's just me being nitpicky)
It’s really unfortunate the devils weren’t good when he went to nbc and never really got to have him do our games much. I wonder if they would do a ring of honor for him? Would Chico get one?
I was going to say that but didn't want to irritate the Devils faithfulDoc and John Davidson was the best announcing team I ever heard - in ALL sports.
JD always spoke highly of the Devils and Lou, he called it down the line like Doc did.I was going to say that but didn't want to irritate the Devils faithful
It was an NBC tribute and we never got NBC games.

No one had retired yet, Lamoriello being the most obvious candidate and he really has to retire first LOL.They deserve it but they haven't added anyone else to the ring of honor since they added McMullen which was already a few years ago, it was January of 2017 so I wouldn't expect anything to happen anytime soon there.

I assume they created it to honor extraordinarily important people to the franchise, they aren’t looking to randomly add old fan favorites. I always assumed Lou was next but I could see Emrick getting it next but he’s literally it.
I don’t see Chico or Lemaire or whoever getting a spot, it won’t it fill up quickly. I guess they could add the three Stanley Cup winning cup coaches if they wanted to expand it. What do I know, maybe Chico gets up there as a broadcaster/player but I think he may lack the stature that it represents, unlike Emrick.

ring of honor is really tough. The devils I think overdid it with that. It’s such a big and imposing feature in the rink compared to a jersey hanging? What visually looks “bigger”? So then where do you draw the line? I get giving to McMullen but the guy did threaten to leave to go to Nashville. Why not beek? Yeah he ran out of cash but you can’t deny his heart was in the right place as a fan #1 and he never threatened to leave and helped secure Newark as the new arena. Do any coaches get it? Outside of lemaire none of them really stayed long enough to warrant it. Lou is the next one then doc probably but then your going to be looking at empty space for a loooong time which is fine it shouldn’t be just filled but I think maybe having the ring on the concourse then when it filled moved inside arena?
