Boudreau story is crazy. Rangers should fire Gallant and hire Boudreau. I bet no one at the Garden will chant something for Gallant.
Why? The guys made it out of the 1st round 3 times in his coaching career. His teams typically flame out or under perform and he’s mostly terrible with young talent.

Two coaches I actually loved here despite what others will say: Renney and Tortorella. I also liked their staffs. And Sullivan should have been kept around after Tortorella was fired. I thought it was a mistake when both Renney and Tortorella were fired. Especially Tortorella.

I haven't liked a Rangers coach since. Say what you will about both Renney and Tortorella but they both got A LOT out of the teams they had. And at least demanded some accountability. Especially Renney in the first year or two. If it wasn't for Crosby diving and that f*** face Drury, Renney and Jagr could've gotten us to the Final. If Tortorella had at least one player that could score goals (that lazy glass man Gaborik does't count) he may have gotten them to the Cup Final.

Vigneault, Quinn, and Gallant drove/drive me up a freaking wall every game. Vigneault had a fast as hell team that he mysteriously made turtle all the freaking time. Quinn was in over his head. Gallant is the most idiotic coach I've seen since I've been old enough to pay attention to who's coaching the team. Obviously liked Kenan for us winning the Cup but that group of Hall of Famers could have won with or without him.

I was a kid/teenager in the 90s I didn't care who was coaching really. It wasn't like it is now with social media and internet message boards. We watched on TV and read Hockey News when we could. Now with all the info and video and access to everything it's easy to see how a coach is and handles a team. Gallant is up there with my least favorite coaches not just Rangers but in NY sports of the last couple decades. I liked Art Howe more than Gallant....
Well said. You can be a players coach and have accountability. Renney was a great example. Daboll is a NFL coach but a great example. You dont see Kenny Golladay, a top paid player, anywhere but on the sidelines because he sucks. He plays no names at WR instead.

This organization is notorious for milquetoast coaches. And in the rare instance we get a coach that ruffles the country club, look out! That is why Torts and Renney got fired.

We will always yearn for the Gerard Gallants and AVs of the world. Coaches who want to keep their vets happy and on the ice. Even if Gallant is fired, we will get another clone of him in his place.

Again, I think it’s too soon on firing Gallant. You cannot fire a coach who took them to the ECF last season which was an overachievement, and are currently in a divisional spot. Yeah things have been up and down, but I think the players should be accountable as the coaching.

If the Rangers get booted in the 1st round, then maybe , but still would be on the fence. I think roster tweaks will be made before Gallant gets the axe. Now that’s just my opinion.

As I said before, I think coaches matter little, but saying Gallant is the most idiotic coach you've ever seen makes zero sense unless you believe last year's Rangers team was the best in team history, because last year's team went to the semis and I believe Gallant had the best winning percentage in the entire history of the franchise.

I'm pretty certain that you believe that last season's personnel had some big flaws and you think Gallant is the biggest moron, ever.

So, how were they more than a .500 club, let alone a semifinalist?

Every coach gets fired.

This is not an organization that will ever consistently develop forward talent, even if you have the 2OA and 1OA in consecutive years. Even if we took Jack Hughes and Tim Stutzle, they would be a shadow of the players with us that they are currently. Likewise, put Kakko on the Debbies and Laf on the Senators, and they'd be on the 1st line.

I have come to accept this. Aside from the rare "one off year" here and there, this will always be an organization that needs to spend money and will lack the patience to do the right thing up front.

Defenseman and goalies, that is a whole different story. They rarely miss with those picks and prospects.
Hughes would be great on every single team.

Every coach gets fired.
Technically Barry Trotz was never fired yet in the NHL.

Contract not renewed in Nashville
Resigned in washington
stepped away in Long Island.

Everyone here wants to give up
Fire gallant
Break up the PP1
Waive Blais
Trade Panarin

You realize the team has a winning record right?
We had an awesome record in december
Panarin was the best player against the B's the other night
I'm not saying Gallant is perfect. The roster construction certainly isnt perfect. But Gallant and PP1 are well above league average if you look at their body of work. I still think once we get TDL acquisitions we will be better than last year. Steady lads.

Hughes would be great on every single team.
Hughes doesnt have to defer to anyone on the Devils. Plus he had a lot of ice time and PP time from the get-go. We have Panarin and Zibs to placate from each top line. Hughes would eventually be great due to his talent, but I think it would be a much less linear path.

Okay 99% of coaches get fired.

There is zero chance, in my mind, that Hughes wouldn't slot ahead of Trocheck on PP1.

1 game in the last what, 7 days? No back to backs this week? Then ASG?

I don’t recall any other coach playing his backup after long breaks without playing instead of his well rested starter
4 games before the ASG. Backups play

Now if Gallant was doing something stupid like playing the no scoring kids on PP1 I could see being annoyed.

3 games before ASG not 4, with no back to backs
One of the 3 games is against a Western Conference team too so if he played our backup in any of them it should be that one, but it's his former team so his ego probably makes him care more about winning that game than gaining traction in the standings by winning against our own conference

This game is also against a former team so that kinda blows that theory.
