Quibbling over inches lmao

Yea it makes no sense to be so focused on height. We can see he’s above average size, and you don’t have to be Hedman or Chara sized to be a dominant two way defenseman, especially in today’s league. The biggest thing is that he shouldn’t have limitations with clearing the crease or being targeted on the forecheck the same way someone like Quinn can at his size.

I think its possible:

2021: I was a bit skeptical, but the draft isn't really that great, Guenther also exceeded his draft position so far and would most likely be the main contender. Power too I still feel like there should be a Buffalo exception to this conversation.

2019: Jack's potential never seems fully realized for various reasons, but it's still easily peaking a fairly strong draft, imo.

2018: This is where it's trickier for me. I think Quinn in a lot of cases has it, but if a team really wants a center Kotkaniemi is an appealing option.

If you needed a centre, you'd be better off picking Quinn and playing him at C

So the NHL website is lying and we should take you're word for it?
NHL.com has Kadri listed as 6ft, I met him at the mall a few years back. I'm 5'10 and he's shorter than me and very scrawny in person, so yes NHL.com lies about players heights/weights.

Clearly he was standing straight and tall cause he knew he could be measured at any moment.

No i'm sure he decided to squat down or shrink his legs just in time to say hi. Again i'm 5'10 which is average, a 6ft guy would clearly be taller than me, I was legitimately looking downward at him, he's not 6, he might not even be 5'9.

NHL.com had MSL listed at 5'9, he was like 5'6 tops. A lot of players are listed as much taller/heavier than they actually are for whatever reason.

Still a good amount of competition around the 2021 draft and noone has runaway with it yet. We've seen Johnston already have a good season+playoffs but this year has dropped back a bit. MacTavish and Beniers have fallen off their early pace also but on the flipside you have Hughes and Johnson improving significantly. Guenther and Eklund also putting up some very solid totals and I don't watch LA much at all but I haven't really heard many complaints about Clarke. I still don't know what to make of Power and Buffalo, I wouldn't be shocked if teams still liked the package a lot

Luke Hughes is so overrated it's getting ridiculous all spurred by one stan poster.
Maybe it's spurred on by the fact that he leads all NHL dmen with a 61.7% expected goal share at 5v5?

Or perhaps because he's been playing like a Norris contender since mid November, despite not playing on the first pp unit?

His last 17 games:
- 3 goals 15 points +7 19:59 TOI
- 11 ES points (2nd to only Quinn)

His 5v5 underlying numbers are absurd in that span. He's top 5 in individual high danger chances and expected goals among dmen, and leads all D by significant margins (ignoring his partner Pesce) in the following categories:

- 3.95 xGF/60; 3.35 is next highest
- 66.06% xG%; 62.89% is next highest
- +1.92 xGD/60; +1.19 is next highest

Those are insanely dominant numbers.

He's been regularly putting together commanding performances in all 3 zones on a nightly basis, anyone watching will attest to this (and the numbers agree). His defensive transformation has been incredible.

- He's had 9 games where he's caved the opponent in with a >72% expected goal share, and precisely 0 games where the other team has done that to him.
- In 3 of those games he exceeded 90% xG%, which essentially means that in 10% of his games this year, the opponent has hardly even touched the puck in the devils zone.
- He's held the opposition to 1 high danger chance in 10 of his 30 games, despite that happening only once to him.

Luke has been flat out one of the most dominant 200 foot players in the league this year at 5v5. He's constantly breaking up plays and skating the Devils out of trouble in our end, which usually leads to him skating the opponent into trouble a few moments later. His exits and entries are so effortless, reminiscent of guys like Neidermayer and Coffey.

We're looking at a future 70+ point all situations 200 foot dman in the mold of Hedman, Doughty, and Heiskanen. It's really hard to not appreciate a unicorn like that.

I guess this new level of domination isn't too surprising, considering he's the fastest dman in hockey, with that elite Hughes brain, while closing in on 6'3.
