BR are entertaining. But... will they win potential semi with AR without all players they have now?

I doubt it

their own bench isn't full of neymars, vinis and very good defensive guys of top clubs. maybe they flameout like Germany. totally possible

This would be huge if true. US playing in Copa 2024 would be really cool.

Agreed it should be a good thing but we played in the Copa América in 2016, made it to the semis, and then proceeded to not qualify for the World Cup.

But a 16 team western hemisphere based Copa América in the future would be a lot better for US soccer development than the PoS gold cup we play in, IMO of course.

Did I not call Morocco over Spain as my Rd 16 upset special? Ugliest way imaginable, but a win is a win.

At least there was 2018.

Morocco, wow. The Spain/Portugal potential rematch is no more.

Also, reports are that Ronaldo had a confrontation with his coach and has been benched for the game vs the Swiss. Seems like he’s unraveling, strange to see.

I guess long term it won’t matter but he is definitely tarnishing his shorter term legacy. Get over yourself and be about the team. You are nowhere near the player you used to be and that is fine. You could still be a considerable asset to your team if you would just stop being such a selfish jerk.

didn't see the game, but penalties were entertaining

kudos to Morocco
they seemed calm doing it

can they make it another one?! I think it's possible even if not much probable

EN unfortunate with the bracket. they could have been 3rd maybe.

Does the same go for Canada and Mexico?
Yes. It’s also the first year that FIFA is expanding the number of countries that qualify from 32 to 48.

This past cycle was likely the last “real” World Cup qualifying cycle. It’ll be markedly easier to qualify as I believe six CONCACAF nations will qualify from here on out. It’s why getting into high pressure tournaments like Copa is so important because qualifying won’t be an issue and the Nations and Gold Cups can’t be their only competitive matches.

nice plays from Portugal

but long way to go for them

I can see Messi-Ronaldo 3rd place match. Messi is the one for AR, CR7 on the bench...

If they are playing in the 3rd place match I would be shocked if Ronaldo didn’t start. It is a game that doesn’t squat and this is almost certainly his last World Cup. They are going to send him off respectfully IMO.

Its silly imho
they should use him if he's better
if not, then keep him for the second half
