I cannot believe they needed a goal against a team packing 11 guys behind the ball and Gregg brought on Jordan Morris instead of Gio Reyna. Absolutely insane.
Morris is Gregg’s boy. He’s always had a liking for him. I can’t remember the last time I’ve watch him and thought he actually had an impact on a game.

Its almost like they turtled in the second half. Its a shame because the boys were flying in the first half.
This young side appears to have a lot of promise. So glad they've gotten rid of the old guys like Altidore
Dempsey and Bradley who were just slowing us down.

His subs were almost all terrible. It’s crazy how big off a drop off it was from Dest, Musah, and Weah to Yedlin, Acosta, and Morris who, not coincidentally, all play in the MLS. They could have subbed in Scally, Reyna, and de la Torre who all have the profile and form of what they needed to finish off Wales. It might not have worked out but man for as good a lineup as Gregg put out to start his subs were by and large awful and cost them two points. A fresh Acosta getting beat off a throw-in by a tired Aaron Ramsey which led to the goal sums it up.

Huge opportunity missed for US by blowing that game in the 2nd half.

This early game... yikes.

I felt pretty disappointed after yesterday’s game but at least we’re not Argentina. The pressure on those guys is immense and it just got a lot tougher. I can’t decide if they’re more likely to blow the doors off Mexico in their next game or melt down.

Argentina famously lost their opening game of the 1990 World Cup to Cameroon 1-0 on a goal by then seemingly 100 years old Roger Milla and went on to the finals. That was a similar level of upset since they were the defending champions. I’m expecting (hoping) them to bounce back from this loss similarly, especially since they are my pool pick to win it all… :help:

Thought about sprinkling some cash on the Saudis for fun but never pulled the trigger. Kicking myself now lol. Think they were +1000 or more to win last I checked.

Clattenburg “the referees didn’t discuss this, these types of offenses before the tournament. They didn’t say this was a problem, holding in the penalty area, but as long as they’re consistent”……

wtf….they're supposed to warn players they will enforce the rules?

Saudi Arabia had to absolutely thread the needle against Argentina...and they did. THREE goals
stripped away from Argentina as a result of the offsides rule, two spectacular sharp angle shots by the Saudis (past multiple defenders) to take the lead, and then some amazing goaltending and defending in the 2nd half to seal the victory. They had to play the perfect game...and they did.

Hockey analogy? Caps against Tampa Game 7 in 2018.

Berhalter's attachment to MLS players is mind-boggling. It's like Lavi and GMGB attachment to grinding vets. I'm normally anti-conspiracy...but I think there's smoke here. One has to wonder if he's being compensated/encouraged to play MLS based players.

crazy talk…..he’s playing the guys he thinks he can win with, right or wrong.

There was talk yesterday he’s saving Gio for England. That’s a strategy I can’t get behind. Win the other games and worry about England when it’s their turn.
