What a comeback by Leeds. Bournemouth has lost, assuming they do today, after being up by 2 two weeks in a row. They need a real manager.

LAFC wins the MLS Cup in a shootout . Philly missed all three PK's they took
This might have been one of the top five craziest endings to a soccer game I’ve ever seen. LAFCs goalie snapped his leg in half and got a red card in the second period of stoppage time, Philly scored in the 123’ to take a lead, Gareth Bale tied it for LAFC in the 129’ on maybe his third touch of the game, and then the backup keeper for LAFC who came on at the 110’ stuffed Philly in PKs. It was insane.

Chris Richards confirms he’s missing out due to injury. Really sucks. The US will be without their three best CBs in the WC: Miles Robinson and Chris Richards due to injury and John Brooks because Gregg is dogshit.

Get excited to watch Aaron Long and Walker Zimmerman get laughed off the field against Foden, Kane, Sterling, etc.

Is Roldan on the roster? Please God...nooooo
We find out today. I haven’t seen anything confirming it but most are speculating he’s on.

More and more details are coming out about how Qatar bought their World Cup and stole it from the US and more and more players missing out due to injury. Love the World Cup but this will be a huge stain on its legacy. Blatter yesterday said the US was chosen for this WC but then the then-French president called the Exec Committee and told them to change the vote to Qatar, and a year later Qatar bought fighter jets from France for $14.6B.

Sadio Mane and Reece James are two guys this morning who announced they’d miss the WC due to injury. Really f***ing sucks.

The roster is out! No Zach Steffen but the biggest shock of the night without a doubt is no Ricardo Pepi. I mean, I don’t even know what to say. He had a tough go in Germany but has been lighting it up since his transfer and he saved Gregg’s ass during qualifying. Honestly, it sucks for him.

No Jordan Pefok, no Paul Arriola, no Zach Steffen, no Ricardo Pepi, no John Brooks, no Malik Tillman. Somehow Christian Roldan and Jordan Morris made it which is an embarrassment, especially Morris. Haji Wright made it which is pretty shocking but warranted.

Need some time to digest this. Mostly excited but that Pepi news is wild.

I get that Brooks hasn’t been in the greatest form, but holy shit he must have done something behind the scenes to get blacklisted. No Pepi is unreal. Roldan sucks

It could get ugly

GB said it was Pepi vs Ferreira and Haji vs Pefok. Sounds like Sargent was the only lock and they wanted a physical presence, so they were choosing between Pefok and Haji and then it was Ferreira vs Pepi for the other spot. Sargent is in the form of his life so hopefully he brings that confidence with him to Qatar. I still think it’s astonishing they chose Jordan Morris over Pepi. It’s really an indefensible selection given Pepi’s return to form and Morris’ complete lack of production at both the club and national level. Roldan is a miss as well and you could say that he’s never going to see the field anyway so why fret but to me it’s also about the most deserving and Tillman was clearly more deserving.

I’m more concerned about the back line than I am with scoring. They should give everyone in their group a handful offensively. Reyna, Pulisic, and Aaronson pressing with hopefully Sargent up top should give them plenty of looks. I like Ferreira’s hustle but he’s just had no touch in the box so he wouldn’t be my first choice up top. The more I think about it the more I think it’s a total blunder not to have Pepi. Only three strikers when we know Haji isn’t really their guy is wild.

A third of this roster is from the MLS. Aaron Long who is an unwanted free agent over Mark McKenzie who is starting in the Belgian Pro League and Europa League is another just horrible and stubborn decision by Gregg. I can’t wait for both to be gone.

All that said, my attention and energy now shifts to suppporting GB and all of the players. I obviously don’t agree with all of the roster choices but these are our dudes and they deserve nothing but our full support.

I did some more research listening to some of the Gregg interviews on MiB and I concur, I'm fine with Hajj. He explained why he made the selections he did, and I'm sold. Back end seems a bit shaky though. Hoping for some good results in the WC
