The Kingpower Stadium is otherwise empty but the Everton fans are just singing away and don’t look like they are leaving any time soon. Pretty darn cool scene IMO…

blood in the water….there is a lot of buying and selling that needs to be done and it’s time to recall some well performing loanees.
Is this really a crisis though?

Rudiger is a loss, for sure. But the salary he is getting is insane. Christensen is nothing special. Sucks to lose him at the same time as Rudiger but he's pretty easy to replace.

Marcos Alonso is a guy Chelsea tried to sell last summer but nobody wanted him at those wages. Chilwell is back for next season so he wouldn’t have played much anyway and Emerson is a capable back-up.

Lukaku will bring back some money if sold. Batshuayi back from loan too as a back-up or another guy to sell. More than enough money to buy a striker to back-up Havertz.

Gallagher and Gilmour among others coming back too.

Chelsea in the past were a team that wanted buy-back clauses in contracts too. I guess we'll find out in the summer if Abraham and Tomori have those.

They will take a step back for sure but that team is still the most likely candidate to finish 3rd. They weren't going to challenge the top-2 with or without those guys. Small rebuild is needed but they have so many great players out on loan that most of those holes can be filled within the players they already own. Chilwell coming back is huge too. Get someone to replace Rudiger and add another striker and they'll be more than fine.

Those guys have all played big minutes at various times this year. Sure they’re replaceable, but it’s a large amount of turnover. Way more than “get a CB and a striker and you’re good”…..

Alonso played because Chilwell got hurt. At the time he got hurt he was arguably the best player in the league.

Defense takes a hit for sure, especially the depth. They won't have the luxury to rotate as much and likely will need to pick their battles and dress kids for the Cups which likely doesn't mean success. It's a lot of turnover but there is still lots of quality left there on the team and they have their defensive leaders along with a coach who knows how to setup a defense. You can build a solid defense out of Thiago Silva, Azpiliqueta, Chalobah and another CB but that new CB will need to be a good one. Sarr can play CB too.

They still have ridiculous midfield too with Kante, Jorginho and Kovacic along with loads of other options and then they have James and Chilwell on the flanks.

It sucks but i wouldn’t call it a crisis. Covid shouldn't hurt their season as badly either. I see them as comfortably the 3rd best team in the league, still. Where do you see them?

Chilwell has not been that great overall….he’s had some nice stretches. Alonso was seemingly out of favor early, but came in and played very well with his opportunities. This club plays a massive amount of games….we need that depth to be cohesive. It’s like running 1.5 all star rosters.

Kante hasn’t been great, and Jorginho‘s form fell off big time. That his MO. he’ll move on at some point and/or rebound.

going to be a very interesting off season. Let’s see how much we have to spend….

Azpi is leaving also…

If only he was this guy when we had him….a lot of years ago…
Didn’t he get like three total games with the first team over the course of three seasons? And as soon as he went to WB he established himself as a player to watch with his profile rising rapidly the next season at Wolfsburg. It’s not like it took him five years to figure out after he left Chelsea… he was an impact contributor pretty much immediately from the time he landed in Germany.

Always wondered what happened with him at Chelsea, was he just playing in the wrong system? No confidence in him from the coaches?

Not sure what you are expecting from him. He played 6 PL games, scored 3 goals and added an assist. In his limited minutes this season whoscored ranked him the best player in the PL ahead of Kevin de Bruyne. He's much more dynamic than Marcos Alonso.

That's my point though... they aren't going to be able to compete on all fronts with that defensive depth which likely will lead to early Cup exits and less games. They lose their luxury of rotating the players and will need to play their top guys more similar to what Liverpool does and hope they can avoid injuries.

Kante, Jorginho and Kovacic have all struggled a lot with Covid and injuries this season. I think you can expect them to be much better next season. Lots of other midfield options behind them too.

I think they will spend a lot. But they will also gain a lot from selling players because i doubt they will keep up with loan network like that.

I'll believe it when i see it with Azpi. He might have left as a free agent but he's still had another year left on his contract now. Why would they sell him? Pretty sure he wanted to go back to Spain but where there? Real brought in Alaba year ago and Rudiger now. Barcelona is bringing in Christensen. Atletico won't pay him nearly that much salary. I think he will stay.

You were acting like Chillwell was a world beater…he’s been up and down as a Blue…when he can make it on the pitch.

Barca has already made it clear they want Azpi. We’ll see I guess.

Just wait for the dust to settle after the selling of the club is finalized. There are tons of options as long as Chelski continues to spend like they have over the last almost 20 years.

Rice wants champions league football, isn’t going to get it at West Ham, and was a former youth player for the blues. He will likely be very expensive to pry out of east London but that hasn’t stopped them before.

Kounde and Torres at Sevilla and Villarreal respectively have release clauses that are reasonably high but not anything Chelski has balked at in the past. I wouldn’t be surprised if both of them playing at Stamford Bridge next season.

And I don’t understand the concerns about Barcelona taking any who is going to require a fee at this point unless they start selling a reasonable number of their top players to fund it. And even if they do they only get to spend 25 cents of every euro they make/save.

As long as the new ownership backs them similarly to the old there aren’t any issues. Now we just need to wait to see if they will or not but I’m assuming they will based on the money pledged to improve the club overall.

I’m just saying there will be a large amount of turnover…A lot of important moves need to pan out for Chelsea to stay top-4 Next year.

I’m not alarmed or worried, just realistic. New owners and who knows how he’ll spend, and a lot of key names on the move.

Who is there to surpass them?

Spurs with that defense and midfield? If Conte stays they are going to have more turnover than Chelsea.

Arsenal don't have any strikers under contract for next season. Lacazette is certain to walk. And if you are concerned about Chelsea's depth then look at Arsenal or Spurs.

I just don't see it. Unless Tuchel leaves.

I hope it’s as easy as you’re suggesting.

Holding was bad before but now he's just trash. Should never suit up for ARS ever again.
