Does Santos have options? He should not be pitching at the major league level. He retired one batter last night and gave up two towering homeruns and a line drive single. His WHIP is over 2.00 and his ERA is over 10.

He needs to go down and learn to pitch. They need to bring Wagner back up. Delabar needs to get a run as the closer with Wagner/Rogers (who has a pretty good arm and should be concentrating on short bursts as a reliever) in the Delabar roll.

And this is why we should of sold high on some of bp arms in the off season. Every season is so random for new relievers, if you can get good value for them you do it.

No options left. I'd be using him in low leverage spots only until he figures it out.

Get wagner up, send mcgowan to the pen, let Happ start a few and if he sucks DFA him and bring up Stroman/Nolin

But according to Zaun, no pitcher is ready to pitch in the major leagues until they have pitched a certain amount of innings in the minors:sarcasm:

When Lind returns, are they going to keep Lawrie at 2B and Francisco at 3B?

Havent been watching jays lately and had no idea lawrie was at 2nd?

I hope they move him back, he seems pretty good on the hot corner...

Sad that we have no 2b :/ so lawrie has to be used there.

as much as this sucks to watch that's horrible asset management.

This. If anything, you'd move Morrow to the pen before DFA'ing him.

I agree that Wagner should be up, but let's not overreact on Santos. Is he pitching horribly? Sure. Should he be closing games from here on out? Probably not. Does that mean he has no role on this team? Definitely not. He has a live arm, and isn't the first pitcher to implode in the closer's role. Some guys just can't handle it, but are very useful in other situations.

Look at Jim Johnson, John Axford, Francisco Rodriguez, Mark Melancon, all of whom have had similar bouts of ineffectiveness in the past year or two and rebounded to become valuable members of their respective pens. Relief pitchers are volatile, except for an elite few. This isn't new. It doesn't mean that you just toss them aside.

Lawrie is playin 2B right now because of interleague play. They are trying to keep all of the bats in the lineup and Francisco can play 3B, kind of.

hahah very true.

While there's some merit to that argument, how would he explain Huch then?

I think both Nolin and Stroman needed time in AAA, but they're quickly showing they deserve a shot here shortly.

Just wanted to point out that Nolin has over 150 IP at or above AA in the minors. From that standpoint he is probably the one prospect who has been given time to polish himself without being rushed under AA.

Also, Brett Lawrie has 2 hits in each of the last 5 games he has played in.

Morrow to the DL. Jenkins is up. My guess to be in the pen and we'll see Stroman or Nolan brought up for his next turn in the rotation.

EDIT: He's on the DL with an index finger strain #fragile

EDIT2: No Stroman/Nolan. Happ will take Morrow's spot and no 6 man rotation (5 man rotation good, Happ bad)

Don't be surprised if they try to sneak him through to AAA

Exactly what I was thinking

Mr entitlement will get one start and be mediocre.

Likely just an "injury"

Take a week off, then go to the minors to rehab and see if he can get some work in.
