New trend I've noticed this year. The distracting and bright 'at home' and 'geico' ads on the boards that change sponsors, guess the ones on the glass and the ice in the off/def zones up by the blue lines weren't enough. Wont be long before jerseys are disgraced with an ad.

Also, maybe I'm just dumb but I can't tell if they're virtual or if some kind of actual display physically there is showing and rotating the ads? In this video it almost looks like there's a display and the ad 'goes out' on this booming hit into the boards.

I actually used to think it was like a thing just for tv. Like the lines you see on the field watching a football game. That makes me think it's an actually screen they have built into the boards. I never liked them and the glare on the ice in your post is annoying as well.

All those ads are horrible. The worst ones are the ads projected onto the ice (I think only visible to TV viewers.)

The ads often shift and vibrate slightly.

Same thing with the ads projected onto the glass behind the nets (again, I believe only visible to TV viewers). Horrible, invasive.

Money grubbers.

I don't think I've had the displeasure of seeing those ones yet.

All projected ads should be banned. I don't mind ads on the ice, on the rink or on the god damn speaker but the projected ads sticks out like a sore thumb. It feels like CGI from a late 90's early 00's movie.

Nothing new about this. The Xcel Energy Center has had a video screen on the boards to display various ads throughout a game for more than a decade.

I can typically ignore ads and enjoy the game with no problems, I don't even notice the controversially placed ads on the helmets. The ones that get me are the previously mentioned digital ads inside the blue line. They often shake and (this may be exclusive to AltitudeTV) will even show through white jerseys as players skate over them. It's super annoying and hard to ignore, especially when a player is skating the puck out of the zone and the ad almost starts to chase them along the ice surface.

This stuff makes the NHL look like some kind of embarrassing, third-rate league.
Stop overreacting. It's fine. Is it distracting? No more than other other ad along the boards. And ads have been a part of the league for four decades. lol

I miss the days when the only advertising during the game was Dick Irvin pimping the smooth, clean taste of a Du Maurier during intermission.
Okay, boomer.
