I get why as a player he felt like he had to suit up and play. But it's up to the team and doctors to tell him he is only hurting the team by suiting up hurt.

But as an outsider I'd say yes he was absolutely selfish tonight and f***ed the US. If you know Tkachuk has a possibility of not finishing the game you likely suit up Kyle Connor instead of Chris Kreider. And possibly Tage?

Kreider was injured as well. Maybe they couldn't call up a new player?
Kreider was not injured he was sat because he was bad all night and every time he was on the ice they got cratered.

Idk man I hated Connor coming out to begin with. They kept trotting Hughes out there mistake after mistake all tournament and buried Kyle Connor and then scratched him

Knowing Tkachuk possibly couldn’t even finish the game makes it feel like a massive f*** up by coaching.

Did more than Matthews all tournament.
Matthews was the best player for USA tonight and the last goal was on Fox for chasing the puck carrier behind the net which you learn not to do in pee wees and Matthews had to leave his coverage to cover for him.

1 assist makes you best player on the team? lmao

It's cool if you just look at the box scores and aren't capable of understanding the game by watching it.

Also, he had 2 assists so I guess you're not really capable of looking at box scores properly either.
0 goals. 0 goals all tournament. 0. Zero. Zilch. Nothing. Maybe he led the tournament in "almost goals." Glad he's on the Leafs.

Absolutely. Stopped Tage from scoring his hat trick and becoming an American icon. The bald eagle landing on his stick was crazy.

But seriously, I feel like Tage’s skills woulda shown in this sorta thang. Instead you get constant updates: “Matthew, still not playing. Matthew, sittin like a fool. Matthew.. not much happenin.”

In hindsight, I’m right.

No Kyle Connor is maddening if he isn't sick or something - isn't there an illness going around? USA iced like 8 centres

No.

Austin Matthews did by choking in OT. One thing to be robbed by the goalie on slam dunk goals, another thing to snooze and leave the best player in hockey all alone in front of the net for eternity.
If you think Auston Matthews one of the best 2 way forwards on the planet left McDavid alone in front by “snoozing” I want you to go back and watch the goal again and look what his defenseman do before that below the goal line that forced him to attack the puck carrier.

The bigger problem was that the f***in dinosaurs who run USA Hockey (just like the ones who came before them and are now retired) left some of the good players completely off the team. So you would have seen him replaced with some guy who didn’t really matter.

I read some crap about how Kreider was put in there because they like his speed lol. Is Kreider actually fast in 2025?

It felt like Sullivan was trying to get acquainted with some of his future players for next year after the Rangers hire him.

Extremely tough spot for him and Sullivan. No way you can scratch him? But I feel if there was any doubt that he could finish the game you put someone else in.
