And Boeser at his worst is much more of an asset that Kapanen.
Pittsburgh sources suck. So if they say Boeser isn’t coming here, he will probably get traded here tomorrow. How about Boeser + Poolman for Kapanen + Marino? We could do Hamonic as well but he has a modified NMC where he can choose 8 teams to block a trade to, and we know he wants to stay in Western Canada/West Coast so those teams wouldn't be on the list.
Another idea is Boeser + Rathbone for Marino + Dumoulin, but doubt Pittsburgh wants to uproot their defence like that.

Pittsburgh should really want Poolman over Hamonic or Schenn, but because he’s overpaid the guy is seen as a leper.

The whole reason of getting rid of Marino is to ease up our cap situation next year and moving forward.
Poolman doesn't do that.

I take your point, but I think you're incorrect about the bolded. IMO, Hamonic is the least valuable of the defencemen mentioned. In terms of quality of play + contract, it goes Schenn > Poolman > Hamonic. Poolman has been quite a bit better than Hamonic this season and is $500k cheaper for cap hit. Obviously the downside is Poolman has an additional 2 years on his contract, but at least he provides value that is somewhat close to his cap hit, whereas Hamonic is a liability both on and off the ice.
If we could ship Poolman out with Boeser for Marino and Kap I'd drive both of them to the airport myself.

Sbisa was pretty decent in his last year with us. Nothing to write home about, but defensive play tightened up and you gotta like his physicality. If Poolman had the physicality of Sbisa he might not be a pure cap dump.
