Does Slafkovsky play in the NHL next season or is he going to need time in Utica or another Liga season?
Maybe for the Habs but the Devils wouldn't need him to contribute a whole lot in transition 'cause his job is to get to the front of the net and score goals from in-tight.Some interesting tidbits here. It's also good to remember that Godin isn't a prospects writer.
"With his skill set, improving his decision-making and showing more consistency in his reads could make him a sort of Rick Nash with a bit less speed. If he were to develop like that, picking him first overall would make a lot of sense.
But if his playmaking skills don’t translate to the NHL, and if his decision-making doesn’t follow the desired development curve, the Canadiens could find themselves with a big second-line winger who gets pucks on net, who uses his physical tools, but who doesn’t contribute a whole lot in transition."
Juraj Slafkovsky's unique skill could make him potential top pick for Canadiens
Every NHL team is looking for the skill set Juraj Slafkovsky brings, but is that enough for the Canadiens to take him over Shane Wright?theathletic.com
I'm thinking if Wright falls I'm pushing for a 2OA for Laine tradeMaybe for the Habs but the Devils wouldn't need him to contribute a whole lot in transition 'cause his job is to get to the front of the net and score goals from in-tight.
Basically, he'd be a better fit for NJ than MTL.
Which is why Shane Wright will be selected 1st overall.
I'm thinking if Wright falls I'm pushing for a 2OA for Laine trade

Doesn't look like the BJ's have the same desire. lol
We did it with Larsson!
I say we give Wright a full camp on the wing.Let's say Montreal takes Slaf and we take Wright. Do you give Jack a full camp on the wing?
Small sample size and randomly done in season. I believe Hughes could be just as good on the wing if he worked from there right off the bat in camp.We tried the Jack at wing experiment and it clearly doesn't work. He not only produces best as a center but elevates the play of others when he's a center.
That works too. 3C and PP time for Wright, or Wright on Jack's wing. Good problem to haveI say we give Wright a full camp on the wing.
Or we can just roll out 3 lines with Jack, Nico, and Shane at center.....
Hughes, Hischier, Wright, Mercer down the middlewe can just roll out 3 lines with Jack, Nico, and Shane at center.....
If the Habs select Wright, we will.Hughes, Hischier, Wright, Mercer down the middle
Honestly, I'd rather get an equivalent power winger
Ya. I'm saying if the Habs pick SlafkovskyIf the Habs select Wright, we will.
That's the beauty of having the #2 pick this year.
You believe Fitz will pass on Wright?Ya. I'm saying if the Habs pick Slafkovsky
I ranked Rinzel at #30.
Like I said, I'd rather trade Wright for an equivalent power winger (the list is short). You believe Fitz will pass on Wright?
You mean our best offensive forward franchise player that we just signed to a 8 year extension?Let's say Montreal takes Slaf and we take Wright. Do you give Jack a full camp on the wing?
Yeah, I would take a hard look at Sam Rinzel with the #37 pick. Maveric Lamoureux, too. Both those RD have huge upside. Chesley won't fall past #20 overall, despite some poor rankings by dopes who think stats are more important for a defenseman than defense. Luneau probably goes in the first round.I'd love to have Rinzel, seems like very smart guy on and off the ice. A good skater for being a bigger guy. And like Luke was, one of the younger guys in the draft who is already rising im rankings.
If Fitzgerald is as competent as I think he is, he will have scenarios in place for any realistic instance in the 2022 draft. I think Plan A would be to take Slafkovsky #2, but if Montreal drafts Slafkovsky Fitz should either have a trade already in place for the #2 overall pick or have committed to taking Shane Wright. I'd love to see the Devils move down to #3 overall, add an extra late 1st, and still come away with one of Jiricek/Nemec, that would be ideal if the Habs want Slafkovsky. You believe Fitz will pass on Wright?
I would personally start Slafkovsky in the AHL and allow him to acclimate to the North American ice-size and play style. I'd rather slightly over-develop a prospect than rush him, but it's just my personal preference. If he earns a call-up during the course of the season, I'd be open to it. But give him at least a few months in the AHL.Does Slafkovsky play in the NHL next season or is he going to need time in Utica or another Liga season?
