I’d be ok with missing playoffs by a couple points if we could draft Bedard…. 10 spots is the most you can move up in the draft. So I’d like to be in the 10th pick slot (most points possivle) then win the lotto lol.
But , we are adding Ottenger ,Slafkovsky , Nichushkin , Lyubushkin , Marchment , so we won’t finish 10th worst in the league .
Nichushkin is never coming here. I'd take Niederreiter instead

Can you sum up what they said?

I don't think I can properly paraphrase what they're saying mainly 'cause one of the guys cellphone connection is ASS.

From what I'm understanding here, their viewpoint is that Shane is more of a sure thing and Slaf isn't.....because of exposure(?)

Meaning (in my opinion) no one truly has seen what Slaf is capable of whereas Shane has had his game picked apart here.

The person the host had on his show brought up his poor numbers in Liga but the Host later on mentioned a scenario involving Lucas Raymond where he didn't have good numbers and then once he was with NHL Players who could "Think the game like he could", his game elevated to another level.

And that makes sense to me. I saw Slaf make many plays to teammates who just couldn't finish (he'd fit right in with us.. just kidding....maybe...) and I feel he will excel when he has teammates to set up in the NHL.

They also said the same about Cooley (in regards to exposure) in how because he's got tape on him because he's in the states.

Also discussed was the D-men in Nemec/Jiricek....basically the only thing I got from that discussion was "Whomever you select is basically a personal preference".

That's the best I can do, @StevenToddIves and I'm sure you'll get a much better rundown by someone else that listened to the show.

I think that’s the longest thing you’ve ever written for us. @Guttersniped would be proud.

I've corresponded a bit with Mr. Robinson concerning Slafkovsky during the course of the year. I feel Cam's final #2 overall behind Wright will be Nemec, but I feel he's come around on several aspects of Slafkovsky's game which I've been lauding all along. I'm confident he'll have Slafkovsky in his top 3.

To me, it's extremely close between Wright and Slafkovsky at #1 right now, and I'd say it's a full tier down to my #3/#4 of Jiricek/Nemec (who are also very close).

I'm increasingly confident Slafkovsky will be the Devils pick at #2 overall at the 2022 draft. Nemec and Jiricek still must be considered dark horses, but the idea of lining up Hughes with Slafkovsky for the next decade-plus has to be overwhelmingly tempting. The elite skill of these two is clear enough, but the complimentary skill-sets also cannot be overlooked. With Slafkovsky wreaking havoc down low and Hughes unstoppable up high -- the potential here is nearly limitless.
To me the best fit could be Slaf and Nico. Nico is very good along the boards and has made noticeable strides there. Having him with Slaf could create a possession monster of a line. Maybe you throw Mercer there who I think will have a very good forechecking and board game in a few years, and you could have one of the best play driving lines.

That could free up Hughes to play with Bratt and Holtz on a line that could be extremely dangerous off the rush.

Meh, I’d rather have a stud down low -Slaf and Hughes dominating up top , Nico can handle himself down low . I just feel Hughes with Bratt would need a tank on that line to do the heavy lifting

The added bonus is even if the Slaf/Nico line doesn't score they probably hemmed the opposition in and they will be probably tired. Switch to the Hughes line for the face off and let them have fun against the tired opposition.

Hughes and Bratt were extremely dominant together without a stud on their wing. Either way we would have a ton of different permutations we could run with our lines.

If one of Nemec or Jiricek is available at Pick #7.

Should we swap Holtz to Ottawa for Nemec/Jiricek?
Eh, whats that phrase? A bird in hand... Ah I forget

Id keep Holtz. As much as the idea of a top pair RHD is enticing, having a PPG sniper in the AHL at 20 isnt something you usually want to give up on early

His shot, even if Slafkovsky is drafted, would still be the best on the team and probably as soon as he gets a permanent spot on the roster.

The podcast is frustrating (Not Chris Peters) but the guy from hockey news.

It was said that Wright is over exposed. The only other option is Cooly, because they are centers. Slaf’s hype stems from the popularity of olympics (more exposure) but euro scouts question his ability because of his TPS production (false). If you listen to Morrelle’s podcast the Head of Euro scouting chalks it up, playing with less talent on team that relied on team defense.

The final point, which I find funny; they compared Wright’s situation to Tavares (overexposure) but there is a strong case Tavares isn’t the best taken in his draft year.

They said Covid messed up Wright, but thats a copout. Its safe to say it mess all parties to some extent. Canada bias abound.

It’s happening!

I can’t believe it but Scouching dropped Lambert from 2nd to 3rd.

So Cooley is 2nd. (Lambert is still in the 1st tier of three players, the world hasn’t gone completely mad.)

The old 1st Tier:

His second tier has gotten smaller and whole lot more conventional.

The old 2nd Tier:

Now it’s three players *yawn*, in order, Slafkovsky, Jiricek and Nemec. Boring.

What a square, like four corners.

Here’s the old 3rd tier with 12 players:

The new one has 18, as not only does Savoie & Gleb drop down from the 2nd into it while Nemec moves up, five players (Lekkermäki, Öslund, Kasper, Kulich, Geekie) move from the 4th tier up.

The new list’s top three tiers (Top 24):
