Chico saying that he asked Marty about if he's open to coming back after next year if he's still playing at a high level, and he said absolutely. Also said he's not the Marty that played behind Dano, but still one of the top 10 goalies in the league and I agree with him completely.

I don't give a rats ass what his save percentage is. Brian Elliott broke a save percentage record last year, and isn't even the best goalie on his team let alone in the league.

Let's be serious. How many times have we seen Marty give up a clean bad angle goal like he gave up a lot 5-6 years ago? I don't remember many. He's prone to the the clean point shot occasionally, and the blocker side which has always been a weaknees, but he isn't giving up crap goals. Occasionally he does, but so does everyone.

Listen, I love Marty, but I think after this contract is finished he should retire. I really think last season was his last shot, as well as a few other guys to win a Cup, and I wouldn't want to see a situation where he's getting embarrassed at age 43. He's not getting any younger. What more does he have to prove at this point?

This might be an issue actually. If Brodeur wants to come back and Lou wants to go in a different direction. It could get very dicey. Who wants that type of drama for the franchise player? Ending things on a sour note? It's stupid.

Just got back from the game. Watched Gelinas all night and I have to say I'm impressed. Very crisp passer, makes quick smart decisions with the puck and very smooth skater. I'm stoked about this kid....he ended up being out against the Malkin line a lot and held his own.

Have to figure he'll be in Saturday...

What if he were to help transition in a new goalie though? That could be a good idea.

Okay lets be serious here. Could Lou have really thought we had another cup contender on our hands with the team he built this year? Not saying he could have done a better job or that this team was awful. He had to know this team was one good forward away though. Even Dano, Steve, and Chico are saying it.

No but he knew we should of been a playoff team and he was right to think that even though we didn't make it.

These quotes are really uplifting.

Well, he's been out of the playoffs more than he's been in them his entire career. Came to the Devils to be in the playoffs every year, and it's happened twice? Junk.....

I love Kovy and he is 100% right. This team is in major flux this summer. Without upgrades at forward, I am very worried about the devils

I think Dano and Chico said it best during the post game. That the team just couldn't really suffer injuries on forward like with Kovy cause there wasn't really top 6 depth. I believe they also touched on with Zubrus, and so did Fischler later on. How that injury hurt them. We thought we were getting a good replacement in Ponikarovsky, but he blew.

from what i saw he definitely exceeded expectations. obviously need more than a one game sample size though.

This year has to be used as a blessing in disguise that we need more guys that can create space and offense instead of influxes of the grinders and guys who play along the boards

See though the Kovy injury happened so late that we should still of had enough of a cushion to whether it, plus the team played well enough that they should of been rewarded a bit more for their play. Obviously yes we couldn't afford him getting hurt after the previous bad stretch, but there was no excuse for the stretch were we plain sucked ass royally.

The team played its absolute worst hockey when Marty got hurt. Only Zubs was missing, and ya thats a blow, but there was enough on the ice to get it done. Instead the D played like complete boneheads. Zajac, Clarkson, and Henrique straight up vanished, and our PK was embarrassing.

Ya the injuries were a big part of the story, but we should of been able to weather them better then we did. Just look at Ottawa.

He comes to play like this at camp I can see him winning a spot. If Lou does a job and clears space for him that is...

Again IMO the biggest and most important priority is clearing up the logjam so we can get stability on D, and also get younger.

I don't see Zubs or Elias leaving, and with Loki in the fold Henrique should be moving to wing (time for JJ to start playing 3rd line center) so one more top 6 forward if possible and maybe a third line Clarkson replacement if he leaves.

They really have to find someone that can finish. Devils were the better team most games this season except on the scoreboard.

Even with Kovy the offense was below average I believe (2.4 goal per game avg). The bottom lines are fine with CBGB and Josefson/Henrique/Clarkson?/Zubrus. It's just that really ugly top 6 that will haunt this team going forward. That and maybe the 40 year old goalie tandem.

I think we could have been a bubble team, but the injuries to Marty and Kovy hurt us. But even you said so yourself that we needed another top 6 guy right? I mean for next year now.
