Surprised that Noesen is one of the slowest skaters in the league. Shows how far good positioning and being great at other skillsets that don't require foot speed can bring you.

Some players that lose speed can go from effecting to ineffective in an instant if all they can provide is pure offense. Jason Robertson wasn't all that fast a skater before his foot injury, but now it seems he lost some more speed and his PPG has dropped by 50% so far this season. I'm not saying that Robertson only provides pure offense in his skillset, but it's a good example of what can happen by losing footspeed.

Thanks for putting the quote in your avatar.

I knew who you were as soon as you made the name change, I just didn't have any clue as to what IDEKWTM meant, despite having already watched Jack give that answer in the interview. It just didn't click.

4 Nations Face Off, zzzzzzzzz who gives a shit, such an NHL thing to do.
I'm interested to see some chemistry build between guys before the olympics next year. It's been a decade now since a real international tournament. Even though this one doesn't count for much, I still think some of the fringe guys will be playing hard to make their case for olympic rosters.

I'm going to say this as a joke, and I have no stats to back it up, but I kind of mean it.

His 0 to 15 time is really good.

Or at least pretty good.

I wish one day we can have a good ole fashioned All Star game...a regular Campbell vs Wales All Star game.
With a 11-9 score or something?

Those were lame too.

All star games are lame.

Additions of Noesen, Cotter, Kovacevic, Dillion, Pesce... Siegenthaler getting healthy again. Significantly changed the complexion of this team...for the better. And I much rather have this than Boqvist and Sharangovich.

The additions also nocked the youth out of the defense. 3 young defenders were just too much to overcome. Bahl looks to be doing well in Calgary and no doubt Nemec will become a solid player one day but you just can not have 3 young inexperienced defenders in the lineup full time. It was always a recipe for disaster.

This forward group is better than we've seen in a while And it is significantly less soft than in prior years. I don't think the defense is a good as 2023 but it's not terribly far off.

This is a much better overall team that can play more in the trenches than we have been able to in the past.

We wanted to be able to play in different ways and this off season was the most significant step towards that that we've seen.

Good post, agree with all of it. Particularly, with the last 3 parts. We are a better team that can play a variety of different ways this year and doing fairly well in all the different styles.

Seeing Jack flip a switch somewhere between games 5 and 10 where he stopped playing like ronin Jack and more in the team system has paid him (and the team) a lot of good results.

Not to be a dick and I've said this before, I don't care about any of these tournaments or the olympics one bit. Oh look, we slapped together a team (usually run by morons) whom could only dream of being a cohesive unit, have culture, or be a "team" over a week or two, to compete against other slapped together teams, it's meaningless.

I get national pride and all but the olympics should go back to amateurs only. I can't stand it as a fan, I would lose my mind if I was a GM or owner.

f*** the GMs and owners

Olympics should be the best of the best
Honestly I think it’s more player driven, I doubt any owner or GM wants Crosby, McDavid, Ovechkin, etc playing extra games if they had any say in it. Bettman is another matter but the Olympics are transactional with him

yeah for sure, the players want to play and they should be allowed to

Leaving Luke off the roster feels dumb but I'm fine with him spending they time resting.

Same with our Swiss boys
I absolutely get why Luke isn't invited, but I would 100% take him over Hanifin with how they're playing this year
