I don't like the Olympics - especially not when they are not in North America/Europe - and I don't like a tournament taking time from the season, but best-on-best hockey has been missing for 10 years.

Oh look, we slapped together a team (usually run by morons) whom could only dream of being a cohesive unit, have culture, or be a "team" over a week or two, to compete against other slapped together teams, it's meaningless.

I get national pride and all but the olympics should go back to amateurs only. I can't stand it as a fan, I would lose my mind if I was a GM or owner.

Tell us how you really feel haha. I get what you're saying, but I guess I just get enjoyment out of it for the sake of something different.

I'm not surprised given they seem to be going veteran over current ability with some of the picks. Kreider over Tage Thompson is hilarious, although just because these players were named now doesn't mean they'll all be there 2 months from now.
 
The Nations tournament is okay.. if its one time every four years (maybe the year before the Olympics)! And if any of our players get hurt in it im officislly boycotting all future non-Olympic events!!

However... The NBA Cup is absolutely genius and I have to imagine its only a matter of time until the NHL and MLB follow suit. Its all built into the regular season schedule and adds a level of intensity to middling games that I dont think even the NBA foresaw! The Finals is the one game outside the schedule.. but its for a TON of money! An event that has zero downsides to it is one I think most can get behind.

The day the NHL (and MLB) starts their own version of the NBA Cup is a day I am very excited for! Its made watching the middle of the season in basketball much more exciting; even if it only lasts a month

Cant wait for Friday though.. Go Devils!!

Not sure who I'd bump for Luke, Hanifin has a bit more of a resume but even he might be the #7. Luke probably didn't have enough of a sample size when they were beginning discussions last year.

As good as Luke has been lately , only player I’d remove for him is Hanifin . In due time I think Luke will a much better player than Hanifin , but for now Hanifin has the advantage of reputation and experience. Even though I think right at this moment , Luke is the better Dman . I understand the selection of Hanifin over Luke or Vlasic though even if I don’t agree with it. Obviously I am biased but Luke is going to be right up there with the Q Hughes / McAvoys / Fox’s of the world in due time . As in the top 1-5 dman in the league good IMO . Maybe just behind his bro , and Makar good

Luke isn't playing over Quinn, Werenski, and Slavin so its not really an issue.

I think they could have used a bigger, physical guy on defense instead of Hanifin as the 7th. Hanifin brings nothing at all over the other guys picked for the team. None of the guys play a physical game except McAvoy, and he's not overly big and hasn't been playing well this year.

And Parayko over Dougie too ? I guess it helps if the GM helping pick is the GM of your NHL team too …. Oh well. Let’s Dougie rest up and hopefully inspires / pisses him off and plays even better because he was snubbed .
 
I’d for sure have Luke over Hanifin.

I still don’t get why everyone thinks Faber is so much better than Luke. He totally isn’t.
