Nils Aman on waivers from Vancouver.

Wonder if he’s a consideration as a Lazar replacement. Even moreso if Bastian is out for a bit.

6’2” 24 year old Swedish center. If Lazar is out long term, he might worth a claim as a 4C/13th forward. Our organization center depth is really poor so it could make some sense.

Yep, would be a perfect fit. Not sure he makes it to us, I believe Colorado will put in a claim first and they have waiver priority.

Honestly, Markstrom has been solid (still, fire Rogalski) with the exception of that horrible Detroit game and maybe one or two other meh or whatever games.

I haven't looked at his underlying numbers on the different sites, but his .907% is considerably better than the current league average of .896%, which is 7 points lower than last year's. It'll probably level out as we go into the year, but it's looking possible that it could be under .900% for the first time since I think it was 1995-1996.

Allen has been pretty awful. The two good games were 2 of our 3 best defensive games of the season., The Markstrom shutout game was the other.

He was pretty much the difference in the Islanders game and he was pretty bad in a Tampa game where the team were awful, but somehow scored enough goals later on in the game that his brutal play really did play a determining factor in that game.

I'm not sure when you play him again. No reason to throw him in there on Monday after we've had 2 whole days off, that's for sure. There's a back to back on Saturday and Sunday, and Sunday are that powerhouse current winners of 3 in a row, the San Jose Sharks.

With the understanding that sites can wildly diverge in their calculations, money puck has markstrom -2.6 goals saved above expected (worse than Allen, humorously) in all situations. Natural stat trick has him -1

They're virtually tied in GSAx 60 on moneypuck. Allen has a way lower expected save percentage, probably in large part due to the terrible Tampa game, where the team was really bad.

They're pretty close on evolving hockey as well. Markstrom has more goals save below expected, but he's played more games and per 60 they're pretty close.

I'm guessing the Tampa game likely tanked Allen's expected goals with how terribly the team played that night.

Still, I don't really trust Allen historically. Binnington exists because of Allen, and their season really turned around when they switched from Allen to Binnington as starter, much more than when they switched Yeo to Berube. Which is still a pretty big difference in itself.

And I was more than fine with having Allen at $1.9 million after Montreal's retention. It sure beats Blackwood at close to $3 million and Vanecek at closer to $3.5 million.

Yeah I doubt he makes it through Colorado, may be another team or two that makes a claim as well like the Islanders. Maybe Colorado passes on him because he doesn’t seem to be a great skater.

A bit weird to see him on waivers, based on the numbers he looks like a young 4C with perhaps some room for improvement.

I didn't realize Colorado drafted him and then didn't sign him. So maybe they won't take him.

I don't think it's that unusual to see a player like this on waivers, they have Aatu Raty in Vancouver who they probably want to get in some games and Aman definitely seems to have a ceiling, though he did put up good numbers in the AHL last season (although shooting over 25% helps with that).
