Nils Aman on waivers from Vancouver.

Wonder if he’s a consideration as a Lazar replacement. Even moreso if Bastian is out for a bit.

6’2” 24 year old Swedish center. If Lazar is out long term, he might worth a claim as a 4C/13th forward. Our organization center depth is really poor so it could make some sense.

Yep, would be a perfect fit. Not sure he makes it to us, I believe Colorado will put in a claim first and they have waiver priority.

Honestly, Markstrom has been solid (still, fire Rogalski) with the exception of that horrible Detroit game and maybe one or two other meh or whatever games.

I haven't looked at his underlying numbers on the different sites, but his .907% is considerably better than the current league average of .896%, which is 7 points lower than last year's. It'll probably level out as we go into the year, but it's looking possible that it could be under .900% for the first time since I think it was 1995-1996.

Allen has been pretty awful. The two good games were 2 of our 3 best defensive games of the season., The Markstrom shutout game was the other.

He was pretty much the difference in the Islanders game and he was pretty bad in a Tampa game where the team were awful, but somehow scored enough goals later on in the game that his brutal play really did play a determining factor in that game.

I'm not sure when you play him again. No reason to throw him in there on Monday after we've had 2 whole days off, that's for sure. There's a back to back on Saturday and Sunday, and Sunday are that powerhouse current winners of 3 in a row, the San Jose Sharks.

With the understanding that sites can wildly diverge in their calculations, money puck has markstrom -2.6 goals saved above expected (worse than Allen, humorously) in all situations. Natural stat trick has him -1

They're virtually tied in GSAx 60 on moneypuck. Allen has a way lower expected save percentage, probably in large part due to the terrible Tampa game, where the team was really bad.

They're pretty close on evolving hockey as well. Markstrom has more goals save below expected, but he's played more games and per 60 they're pretty close.

I'm guessing the Tampa game likely tanked Allen's expected goals with how terribly the team played that night.

Still, I don't really trust Allen historically. Binnington exists because of Allen, and their season really turned around when they switched from Allen to Binnington as starter, much more than when they switched Yeo to Berube. Which is still a pretty big difference in itself.

And I was more than fine with having Allen at $1.9 million after Montreal's retention. It sure beats Blackwood at close to $3 million and Vanecek at closer to $3.5 million.

Yeah I doubt he makes it through Colorado, may be another team or two that makes a claim as well like the Islanders. Maybe Colorado passes on him because he doesn’t seem to be a great skater.

A bit weird to see him on waivers, based on the numbers he looks like a young 4C with perhaps some room for improvement.

I didn't realize Colorado drafted him and then didn't sign him. So maybe they won't take him.

I don't think it's that unusual to see a player like this on waivers, they have Aatu Raty in Vancouver who they probably want to get in some games and Aman definitely seems to have a ceiling, though he did put up good numbers in the AHL last season (although shooting over 25% helps with that).

He's back to the version during our Playoff-push which is encouraging.

Now if our offense can get a bit more consistent, that would be great.
Offense feels pretty consistent to me. They've scored plenty and have scored 2 or less only 3 times since the start of the year. Not very worried about the scoring, which is a good feeling for sure.

Colliton had Aman for 15 games last year so he's familiar with him, hopefully he makes it to the Devils and they claim him.

I also think if the Devils were to try to send him down to the AHL later in the year when Lazar returns, then he also wouldn’t be a veteran for AHL purposes.

So if they play the long game, he could be a fourth line filler and then potentially a center option for Utica, if Vancouver doesn’t reclaim. Also a chance he ends up under the veteran cutoff at years end too if he’s claimed and sticks around.

Some here should listen to Bieksa and realize how ridiculous they sound (in response to the now two times Cotter and others have been cheap shotted)

If you want 'honor' and no unnecessary violence, baseball and basketball may be more your speed. I also hear pickleball is picking up in popularity...

At one point they seemed poised to modernize the sport but the last few years they have really gone backwards on that. At some point the medical studies will lead to a class action like the NFL had to deal with. Once that happens the rules will be changed and enforced.

I just don't buy anything because I go so much and I don't even think the food is any good when you relate it to cost.

I'm going to go earlier tomorrow for the Red Bulls game though and buy some stuff because I want them to see that it will be successful if they do it all the time and maybe if a team around here finally switches to it others will follow.

Red Bulls? That's still a thing? What about the Cosmos?

I agree. I really don't know why the league has gone back to turning a blind eye to blatant, repetitive, dangerous injury situations, particularly to the head but also other dirty plays, boards etc. They've gone a full 360 to about 10-12 years ago when they made a very distinct message to be disciplinary about those types of hits

This season (not just with NJD), we've seen baffling calls by refs who call instigator over very minor infraction (or another extra penalty) when a clear cheapshot attempt has happened and the only guy getting the extra penalty is the player who is trying to handle the cheapshotter. Somehow the team that cheapshots a player ends up getting a PP to boot!

Happened twice to NJD already just this season alone. And also occured in another team NHL game this season as well, forget which game it was but I read about it on the main board. Very similar to what we saw.

You could draw initial conclusions as if the NHL is encouraging this situation the way it's being handled the last season and a half. There's a ton of examples I won't get into (Rempe, Trouba had a few last season alone, but I only know those examples well since they happen with teams we are closely watching)

Even the play by lomberg on cotter was dicey. No one in the league even mentioned that they would look at it.
