There is nothing clouding my judgement as I’ve been one of his strongest defenders. Palat’s value to the team is currently 0.00. The hypothetical buyout being discussed is happening if Palat doesn’t increase his level of play, I assume? He was fine last year, this year he’s been beyond pathetic.

He won’t be on the roster next year if he doesn’t improve. And I don’t see a trade happening given his contract and clauses.

Palat is a fine middle 6 winger.

If Palat's production and analytics came from a guy making 1.5 mill or even 3 mill (again, you are basically suggesting he is worth LESS than 1.5 mill by suggesting a buyout), you would be esctatic.

Palat was a fine middle 6 winger last season. It's unclear if he is still that.

Anyway the most likely way out of this is perma-LTIR. If he is through, it's rare that a player with a decade of competent play shows up to camp finished at age 33 and the reason isn't some sort of injury.

Easily the biggest difference so far this year is they don’t give up multiple odd man rushes every f***ing game like last year. In seven games so far I think I can count the amount on one hand. Last year they gave up pretty much a handful every single game. It was one of the most embarrassing things I’d ever seen as a devils fan.

Lindy’s coaching and “system” was straight junk, I think it’s pretty much undeniable at this point.

4th line Palat could eventually become very beneficial for this team down the stretch if his play picks up. But yes, decisions will have to be made for next season as that cannot happen again.
I'm hoping he redeems himself in the playoffs. That's what he was brought here for, but we never got there last season.

The other crazy aspect of Ruff’s defensive system was how often both defensemen would chase the puck below the goal line. We got caught all the time without anybody tying up the net front man, and if we lost the puck battle in the corner it often led to an easy tap in goal against, or at least a high danger slot chance.

I think it’s happened once or twice this year, with the most prominent example being Carolina scoring late in the second period. But it’s way less frequent.

Keefe’s far superior defensive structure is helping our goalies immensely. The goalies themselves being better also helps.

What the hell is going on with Pesce? Need him and Luke back, we can’t have Dougie, Dillon and Kovy playing 24 minutes a night.
Pesce is beginning to worry me that hell be a problem from day one of his contract

I dont think itd sink us or anything, its just a cap issue really, but I am nervous for sure

I think it turns out better because it’d be hard to be as bad or worse but I’ve always said it has Dman Palat potential.

Luckily though we have tons of capital and every new offseason comes with a new set of future draft picks

If need be we could pay a large sum to move him

Sad that Blackwood could never get his shit together.
His AHL career foreshadowed that he might not be a very good goaltender. Especially his last two years. His first AHL year was decent.

His first two NHL seasons were really an exception from the norm of what's been a mediocre pro hockey career.

I'm not sure what the Avalanche are looking at him for. Just getting another Georgiev to replace THE Georgiev? That's all I can understand.

However, goalies on BAD teams who put up better than .880% (which is like most of them) are jocked, overrated and treated like they're overachieving and the difference between being the worst team in the league and the worst team in the history of hockey, just because they play on a bad team. It's part of why John Gibson is still somewhat of a darling, combined with the very good first handful of seasons of his career.

Maybe they're hoping they can overcome the Rogalski effect.
